Well,reading everyone's complaints, we all have the same transmission problems with the 2006 Maxima slipping and jerking! The only good thing is that it's not my fault! I hate to hear that nothing has been done about this either. When I took my car to Nissan, the mechanic tried to fix it by flushing out the tranning fluid and replacing the electronic motor mount, but I'm still frustrated with second and third gear. So, after $1042 later, I'm still left with a transmission that can only be replaced. That really sucks! Nissan told me it would cost 4K for a new one, but they could shop around for a used one, hopefully with low mileage. That sounds scarry! Guess I'll look into the BBB for answers.

There is no way that I should have to replace my transmission on a 2006 Maxima with just over 100k miles. There should be a recall on this transmission!

My car has started having issues with the transmission. It tends to slip depending on what day it is. I call Nissan Dealership and they said it was the motor mounts. The car runs okay some days but most of the time I get hard jerk.
I have read so many complaints about 2004-2006 Nissan Maxima owners. Nissan corporate hasn't issued a recall yet on these trannys. We need a class action lawsuit immediately!!!

I purchase and afforded a new car for the time in my life in 2006. A NISSAN MAXIMA. I felt so good and drove my baby careful. Six year later in 2012 all hell has broke loose. 1st the air condition, 2nd the brakes and now the transmission. I noticed the problem about four month ago after I got the brakes done. I thought my repair shop had messed up something when he repaired my brakes. I notice when I put my car in reverse and drive a loud thumping noise. It sound horrible like the whole transmission is going to fall out. then one day on my way to my bank while taking off at the light the car acted like it did know what it wanted to do. I eased on the gas at 10-20 mph. Car had to go around me that day. I made it up the street to my bank and then back home. Mind you the car does not do it every time I drove it prior to that day. I parked it in my driveway and started driving my husband's car. 2 week later I called the 1800NISSAN1 and reported the problem. She told me another person would call me from headquarters. They did a day or so later. I told her the problem. She told me she would get back to me a couple of day later. She did return my call two days later told tell me Nissan could not help me pay to get my transmission replaced. She said she researched my past service with the car and I had not had previous services done. That is just an excuse for Nissan because for 4 years from 2006 -2010 by car had been primarily service by Bankston Nissan where I purchased the car in 2006. All I could say to her was unfortunately Nissan do not want to take responsibility for their cars when they know this problem exist with the 2004-2006 Maximas. It was my friend that has a 2004 had already had the same problem and also my neighbor has a 2004 and has had the transmission replaced in their car. So what is really going on? There is an overall problem with the transmissions and NISSAN needs to do a recall. I am currently shopping to find a place to get my car repaired when i believe it is the VALVE BODY instead of the entire transmission. We do not have honest mechanics in this world anymore. Only people who are out to make the most they can make and prey on everyday hard working people trying to make it. I hope we can get a RECALL or CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.
