I only had 123,000 on my Nissan Maxima when the transmission needed to be repaired. The problem occured in January and I had the transmission replaced in March. I am again having problems with the transmission. I was told the first time that the 2006 Nissan had several problems with their trainsmission and that I was the third Nissan transmission that had to be replaced. The others were a 2005 and a 2007 Nissan.

Car will start fine, but will not move at all. Transmission has completely stopped working. So sad that Nissan will not even acknowledge the complaints of these transmission from thousands of loyal Nissan customers like myself. This is my second new purchase from Nissan, and my Pathfinder had the same issue. My advise to anyone thinking of buying a Nissan, DON'T DO IT!

At 34,000 miles, I'm driving down the road about 45mph and suddenly it's like someone put the transmission in neutral. If you pressed the accelerator it would Rev up, just wouldn't go anywhere. I have it towed to the dealer and they changed it with no problems. Now I have just over 100,000 miles and the damn thing won't shift out of first gear. It's been parked for a while now b/c I'm a single mother and don't have the money to fix it. I'm tired of sinking money into this car.
Oh by the way, when it hits 34,000 miles, it started knocking and smoking when u first start it. Come to find out, the gas was mixing w/the oil. I brought it to the dealer and they literally opened the hood, unscrewed the cap to the motor oil reservoir, took a picture and "sent" it to Nissan. Needless to say, after 4 months of trying to get answers, I went to get my car from the dealership b/c I was fed up. When I arrived, while they were frantically trying to find my keys they informed me that my claim was denied due to the fact I had never changed my oil. Bullshit, every time I changed my oil I purchased Nissan filters with them! I get ready to load my car onto a trailer to haul it to my house and they still to this day have not found my keys! Thanks Giles Nissan of Opelousas what a wonderful job of screwing over a customer that spent 40,000.00 with you! Long story short I had to spend my entire tax refund getting another motor.

I purchased a 2006 Nissan Maxima SE from a dealer and it was a used car, ran great, looked great, etc and I was the second owner. Well I purchased it in the fall of 2015 and last year the day after Thanksgiving in 2017, the transmission stopped working car would not go into to gear and shift, starting jerking real bad, etc. and would not even move even in neutral.
I took the car to a mechanic and there was never any recalls on these transmissions and their slipping and shifting issues, and there should've been because Nissan should be responsible for the repairs. The repairs include and are not limited to: New shift kit, including all new shift solenoids, new valve body, etc.
The mechanic agreed with me because he saw the same things happening to other customers of his with the same car, and the price was out of this world, around 4 grand and then some to fix, and I didn't even buy the car for that amount.
Now the car sits in my garage, just sitting there and I would love to get it fixed, but like everyone else, have a family, and other bills to attend to.
Nissan will never admit to this issue with these cars and we as the consumer are stuck with them, even if we are the second owner, and this is all wrong and something should be done about it.
