We owned the car for less than one month and the service engine light comes on. Took it to the dealer and was informed that it was because the gas cap wasn't fully closed and we would be charged $100 to turn off the service light. Not only that but we were chastised because we didn't notice the warning on the gas cap that this would happen. This is unacceptable because not fully closing or leaving the gas cap off is a common mistake that any vehicle owner makes at least once. At least the service light should go off once you tighten the gas cap. We shouldn't have to go to the dealer and pay to have the light turned off. This is a safety issue because we won't go to the dealer for this type of "fix" again. What if there is a more serious problem and we are riding around with the service light on, thinking it is just the gas cap? updated 01-16-08.
