Maxima SE 3.5L V6

Both floor boards rusted through on a car with less than 75,000 miles and 7 yrs old. This is not common for cars in my area.

MY MECHANIC WAS DOING A BRAKE JOB ON MY CAR SO MY CAR WAS JACKED UP WHEN HE WENT UNDER MY CAR HE NOTICED BOTH FLOOR BOARDS ARE ROTTED AWAY. HOW CAN A CAR 8 YRS OLD HAVE FLOOR BOARDS TOTALLY ROTTED AWAY. THE 2008 ALTIMA'S HAD A RECALL FOR THIS FOR 2008 MODELS SO I GUESS SOME OF THE MAXIMA'S THAT YEAR WERE PUT TOGETHER WITH THE SAME CRAPPY METAL. YOU PAY TOO MUCH FOR THESE NISSAN'S FOR THE FLOOR TO BE ROTTING AWAY.

Maxima SE 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

I saw a news segment where 2008 Nissan Altima's where having rotted driver side floor boards so I decided to check my 2008 Maxima.

Sure enough the floor boards are rotted. I called Nissan Consumer Affairs and before that brought it to the dealer which said car was out of warranty. Consumer affairs assigned a case and eventually contacted me and said Nissan would NOT fix the problem.

Why is this happening to an 8 year old car?

Both sides of my floor boards are rusted. I'm gonna be riding Fred Flintstone style soon. I've heard of many others with the same problem

Maxima SL 3.6L

  • CVT transmission
  • 87,400 miles

Floor boards rotted through all the way to the carpet. I live in a snow state where roads are salted, but I often get underbody flushes. The car was only 6 years old when I noticed the problem. I have never had a 6 year old car rust so fast....I have never had any car to rust this bad.

This was my first and last Nissan. 5-years old and rotted floor boards? I am the original owner of the vehicle and it has been well taken care of. Very disappointed to learn from my mechanic that this has happened. I have the extended warranty to 100,000 miles but it only covers mechanical. A 5-year old car should not rot out!
