About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
At temperatures below 20 F the brake pedal will not depress and the car will not stop. This is a recurring incident. Most recently, pulled away from parking spot (street parking) and drove towards an intersection with a stop sign. Tried to stop, but the brake pedal was stuck (would not depress) and the car rolled past the stop sign until it eventually rolled to a stop on the other side of the road. Honked horn to avoid collision as the street I crossed is a busy two-way road. Kept the car in park for about a minute while pumping the brakes, and they worked again after that. This seems to be a major complaint of 2005 Altima owners as well, please refer to the following webpage: www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2005/Nissan/Altima/hydraulic+brake.

The front rotors became warped for the 2nd time since I have owned the car. The first time the car had approx 23K miles, was under warranty and the vehicle was repaired at a local Nissan dealership. The car now has 49K miles and once again began vibrating when the brakes were applied. Car was taken to a mechanic, who recommended that both front rotors be replaced. Two sets of rotors in a car with less than 50K miles seems excessive.
