11/2022 dash air bag warning light started flashing in 2014 Nissan Maxima. Dealership said air bag sensor (part #873009DH5B)was bad and seat needed to be replaced est cost~$1600. In January, I called dealership to schedule seat replacement and was told part was on back order with no timeline for availability. Called Nissan Consumer Affairs, as recommended by dealership, and was given 3 locations where a seat was in stock. Called first site, seat was no longer available, called second site and purchased seat (~$1670)which was shipped here and installed by dealership for ~$300 on 22 February 2023. Air bag warning did not resolve with new seat, so spent ~$400 to install sensor (next step in the algorithm), still did not resolve warning. So, dealership tested a seat from one of their personal vehicles which did resolve the air bag warning. They determined the new seat that I had purchased was not functional. Since February, dealership has kept the 'new' seat and has been attempting to get it replaced under warranty as it is a new part that malfunctioned. I have had two case numbers with Nissan consumer affairs, made many calls, sent multiple emails detailing this with no response since January when they gave me the 3 in-stock locations. When I call to check on case #, reps say someone tried to call but couldn't leave message. They were able to reach me in January and I have no record of any calls nor issues receiving other calls/voicemail. I will not risk the safety of my family with a potential air bag malfunction in an accident, so have been unable to have a passenger in the front seat for over 6 months. Dealership is communicative and helpful and keeps trying to get the part but they continue to be told that it's not known when the part will be available. I understand supply chain issues and have been patient, but this is a severe safety concern. It's not reasonable for a consumer to be left with an inherently unsafe airbag activation system for over 6 months.

Passenger air bag light warning came on. Diagnostics confirmed the passenger front seat cushion Assy with OCS unit required replacement. The cost is $2108.10 and the part is on back order. This vehicle was purchased new and the passenger side seldom has a passenger. I believe this is a manufacturer responsibility as evidenced by the many recalls documented. The new seat order is placed through Premier Nissan of Metaire, LA. Please consider placing this claim into recall. Thank you for your assistance.

The passenger side airbag light comes on each time my mother is in the passenger seat. It stays lights for periods of time. At times the light goes off, then back on. I have brought it to an automotive repair shop and have notified fidelity warranty services since we purchased the royal protection plan which is still in effect until November 2021. I am afraid that if my mother is in the front seat and the light sensor is not fixed and we are in a front impact accident she will be injured.

The low beam headlights on my 2014 Nissan Maxima S are so dim that I am scared to drive my car at night. The high beams are as bright as the low beams should be. We have replaced with top of the line bulbs & it hasn't helped at all. This is a serious safety issue & Nissan needs to address this before people are injured because they can't see well enough to drive. Another issue with my car is airbags not deploying as they should. My car collided with a 18-wheeler on the interstate. The 18-wheeler came over into my lane latching onto the passenger side of my car. Once I broke loose from the truck, I veered into the median hitting 2 road signs head on & my air bags never deployed. This has to be a defect that needs to be addressed as well.

At random times when I am driving the car and my wife is sitting in the front passenger seat the 'passenger air bag is off' light located in the dash illuminates indicating the system thinks the seat is empty. This is random and always after a period of driving the car. My wife weighs approximately 160#, and is sitting flat bottomed on the seat with both feet on the floor. We have begun taking cell phone photos showing a time and date stamp as proof. We also have some without a time stamp. We have taken the car to a Nissan dealer 3 times and they report 'no problem found'. I have contacted Nissan customer service and they are not interested. I am willing to provide the photos as proof. So far the times we have experienced this is at hiway speeds, flat and level roadways.

When an adult sits in the passenger seat the passenger side airbag turns off. The passenger side airbag light comes on and it states the air bag is off. It happens anytime someone sits in the passenger seat. It is a major health hazard and if its not addressed and replaced. I will have no choice but to get my lawyer involved if an accident ever occurs and it doesn't deploy due to the faulty technology.

When there is a passenger sitting in the front passenger seat, sometimes the 'airbag off' indicator light will go on randomly. I even have video proof of this happening while my girlfriend, weighing 130 pounds, was sitting in the front passenger seat with her seatbelt on. The light would stay on for minutes, sometimes an hour, before randomly turning off. Also, the engines oxygen sensor randomly triggers the 'service engine' light as well, I believe it needs to be reprogrammed.

This has happened on multiple occasions. When driving with my wife (usually my only adult passenger) we have both noticed that the air bag light is on, stating that the air bag is turned off. This seems like it would be a dangerous situation if we got in an accident. This happens when we are driving or just sitting in the car stopped with the car on. Date of incident is a random date as this has happened multiple times.

I have a 2014 Nissan Maxima and have had an issue with the passenger seat airbag sensor for over a year. The airbag light comes on, indicating the airbag is off, even when an adult is sitting in the passenger seat. The problem occurs at different times, including if a passenger is seated in the car before the car is started or if a passenger gets in the seat after the car is started. The problem persists while the car is in motion or when the car or brought to a stop. Occasionally the light turns off, most times it does not turn off. I have taken the vehicle to the local Nissan dealership, gettle Nissan in sarasota fl, and they cannot duplicate the problem and claim there is no problem. They refused to provide any further assistance since they could not duplicate the problem, however the problem continues to occur and I can provide pictures and/or video showing the problem. I have now seen numerous reports from other Nissan Maxima owners with this same issue and it is time for Nissan to add the 2014 Maxima to their recall.

Issue is with the passenger seat airbag sensor. The airbag light comes on, indicating the airbag is off, even when an adult is sitting in the passenger seat. This problem occurs at different times, including if a passenger is in the seat before the car is started, if a passenger gets in the seat after the car is started. Sometimes the light turns off, sometimes it doesn't. we have videos showing multiple instances of this happening. Nissan claims there is no problem, can not duplicate the problem, and refuses to replace the sensor. Other Nissan have had this problem and are subject to recall. The Maxima needs to be included in the recall.

The passenger side airbag will not activate when I sit in the passenger seat. I am a 5'4" woman that weighs 125lbs. Our 2015 Nissan Altima was recalled for the same issue, only I did not experience the problem in that vehicle or in any other vehicle I ride in as a passenger. Even if my purse, which weighs at least 10lbs, or my dog that weighs 25 lbs sits in my lap, the sensor does not register my weight properly. I feel this issue is due to the sensor not being positioned properly in the passenger seat. I have complained about this issue to Nissan and have 2 case numbers. 22789194 and 23879183. I was instructed to take the vehicle to 2 dealers, which I did. I was informed since there was not an error code on the computer, the airbag was functioning properly. I requested a specialist to come and see my size and further investigate the safety of the Maxima, but my request for further assistance was denied by Nissan and I was advised by them that I would need an attorney for any further complaint. We own multiple other vehicles for our business and I have been a passenger in many rental cars and well as those owned by friends and family. I have not experienced this serious safety issue in any other vehicle and strongly disagree with the service technicians comment that I weigh less than a small child. I have taken pictures on many occasions of the airbag sensor light, including one with my purse on my lap and one with my dog on my lap. This issue happens if the vehicle is moving or stationary. If I lift myself off of the seat and wait for the the airbag to reset, it works for 2 to 3 minutes before it deactivates again. This has been an ongoing problem but I chose a service date for the required field below. I do not feel safe riding as a passenger in my 2014 Maxima as I believe I would be seriously injured in an accident.

Airbag warning light comes on in sub-zero weather and stays on. Does not go off until temperature warms up. On 12/31/2014, at -35 degrees this occurred and stayed active my entire drive to work. On 01/01/2015 at -10 degrees the warning light again came on and stayed on. The warning light clears as soon as the outside temperature increases. Dealer wants to see car at their facility. By the time I would get to their facility, the outside temperature will have risen and the light will be off. I am concerned I have no airbag protection in sub-zero conditions.
