We had a lot of rain and heavy wind in BC Canada beginning of January 2020, and after one rainstorm we noticed water on the floor of the passenger side which we vacuumed out hoping the problem is solved. Unfortunately we experienced a total shutdown of the electrical system and the vehicle had to be towed to the dealer in Abbortsford BC, as it turned out the drainage holes (see picture) would let the needles falling from the trees into the collector and plug the drain pipe for the collected water, and the water would than overflow to the Passenger side of the vehicle and accumulate on the floor. As it turned out, the floor of the passenger side also accommodate the electrical system for the fuel pump. Naturally the water collected on passenger floor created a short and shorted the main electrical controller.
I like to suggest the Nissan designers take another look at the draining system and either make the drainage holes smaller with more holes or a screen that would prevent any objects to enter the water collector. Since we are in the process to upgrade to a larger vehicle, we looked around the Nissan Dealer car lot and was flabbergasted to notice the many of the vehicle had similar large drainage holes.
