Murano 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 77,093 miles
Experienced clicking sound and subsequent loss of power while driving in mountainous area. 2003 Murano was completely disabled with what turned out to be complete failure of cvt transmission in Nissan dealer maintained vehicle with 77,000 miles on odometer. At this point, Nissan has offered no goodwill help in replacing $5000 cvt transmission, citing outside of 60,000 mile drive train warranty. Reliability of cvt technology in 2003 model is questionable, if complete failure on cvt is normal wear and tear at 77,000 miles. With exception of replacing two radiators and this cvt failure, I have had been very happy with vehicle.

Driving our 2003 Nissan Murano and car started to overheat. Took it to the dealer who said the radiator was cracked. Car has 72,000 miles with all scheduled maintenance done. Called Nissan na to see if others were experiencing the same problem and they have none reported. Denied to help due to excessive miles.

I have a 2003 Nissan Murano sl. I was getting an oil change and noticed a discharge in my radiator overflow. I asked the guy to drain the radiator and reservoir and refill it with fresh antifreeze. The discharge returned and the car became disabled in a busy intersection, with no warning light prior. I had it towed to the dealer and they seemed to know exactly the issue. The transmission fluid had mixed with the radiator coolant?! they charged me $1265.76 and said it wasn't covered because I was beyond 36,000 miles. The radiator looks new and I just have to take their word for this, even though they can't show me the problem. Since they were so quick to identify this problem, I have to think they are seeing it a lot and maybe this should be a recall. I took the old radiator with me and still have it. Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

I bought a 2003 Nissan Murano 6 days ago. As I dropped my child off at day care, and went back to the vehicle, my car was smoking and radiator fluid was leaking everywhere. They said something had pierced my radiator. I had only driven about 1/2 a mile and saw or felt nothing, don't know if it's a defect or road hazard.
