My door lock for my passenger front side does not unlock. I have no idea why but I have to manually unlock this now. I have researched this online and spoke with my local Nissan dealerships. This is a safety issue and should be repaired by a recall. Please advise.

I have a 2004 Nissan Murano. I took my car to the shop today because the doors are not locking or unlocking. My hatch only works some of the time as well. I found out that the actuactor is out on all the doors. This is crazy are out on a car that only has 79K miles on it and is 11 years old. The cost will be about 2K to get fixed. This is a safety issue, I have three small kids. Having to them stand outside while I climb inside to manually unlock the doors is unssafe. If I leave the car unlocked at night when we are out, that leaves us vulnerable for someone entering the car and hiding in it until we return. Once we get in we manually lock the doors but if there is an accident and we needed to quickly exit or emergency responds need to quickly get us out of the car, it is not possible. It is going to cost 2K to get this fixed. I have been reading forums, this is a big issue on the Nissan Murano, it needs to be a recall. If it is not a recall, I would like Nissan accept some of the financial responsibility of this repair.

Yesterday after work, I opened the hatch to the back of my vehicle to remove jumper cables. When I went to close the hatch door, it would not stay closed. I looked closer at the mechanism that locks the door in the closed position, and it was not moving back into the proper position. I thought initially it was due to the cold weather, but even after it was given time to heat up it continued to stay in the open position. I made due by duct taping the hatch closed to make it home. I looked online and saw that thousands of other Murano owners have had issues with their lock actuators on doors, hatches and even the gas cover actuator. It is extremely concerning to me due to the obvious safety hazards that accompany this malfunction.

At approximately 60,000 miles with the age of the car being approximately five (5) years old the front passenger door would not unlock or lock when the remote actuator was used. This got progressively worse and then less than a year later the driver's side door began doing the same thing. Now neither one of these doors will work correctly and often lock on their own without the remote actuator or the internal manual locking system being used. This has spread to the rear doors too but only intermittently at this time. I have read on the internet that many many owners of a Nissan Murano of almost every model year eventually experience this problem. This creates a safety problem should entry into the vehicle or exit from the vehicle in an emergency situation be required because the doors will not unlock from the outside without a key and the only door that has a key slot is the drivers side front door. If the key's in the ignition how would anyone on the outside of the vehicle get the doors open in an emergency" there was a recall issued a few years ago in australia for this very same problem on a different Nissan model vehicle. If this was a safety issue there and was acknowledged by Nissan to be their responsibility to resolve I cannot help but ask "why isn't this being taken care of here in the usa by Nissan"" Nissan and their dealers have known of this safety problem for years and quote between $400 and $500 to fix just one door. Many owners report via the internet that this problem exists on at least 2 doors and some report all 4 doors including the rear lift gate have this problem. Something needs to be done to resolve this problem and protect the owners and occupants of these vehicles.

The door lock actuator does not work when the button is pushed from the inside. The lever must be moved manually. This poses a safety issue due to the fact that in an emergency the door stays locked disallowing a quick exit.

All four power door lock actuators are bad in the car. This is preventing the doors from properly locking and unlocking. This is a major safety issue for the car. I have looked online and there are hundreds of complaints about door lock actuators on 2004 Muranos.

I have a Nissan Murano 2004 with approx 66,000 miles...all four actuators failed at the same time. When I looked into this issue on line, I see that many other Murano owners have the same issue. When the actuators fail you are no longer able to look the doors, there causing a security issue, especially if you have children. I find it strange that so many people are having the same problem. My husband and parents have 2004 model cars, and have no issues with their looks. Please hold Nissan responsible for this issue.

All of the door locks do not work. I have had my Murano in the shop 3 times and they cannot figure out the problem. I have now spent close to $1000 and the problem is still not fixed! they first replaced a switch in the driver's side door. That did not fix the problem. They then replaced the BCM, the locks worked for about a week and now they are not functioning again. This is a safety hazard because I am a single woman and should be able to lock and unlock my doors as needed. How many people have to file a complaint for the same issue before Nissan does something about it"?" it is absolutely ridiculous that I should have to spend almost $1000 and still not have functioning door locks!!! I know for a fact the problem is not the solenoids in the doors that control the locks because my repair shop tested each one in each door and they are properly functioning, which is what led us to check the BCM. When it was determined the BCM was bad, I had that replaced but obviously that is not the only problem. Please do something about this issue!!!

Automatic left side door lock does not function automatically. Front right side and left rear door locks only work intermittently. I have been told door actuators need to be replaced. Problem cannot be fixed without complete replacement. This appears to be a problem either with faulty design or production. Inability to automatically lock doors from the inside could present safety problem.

When getting out of car to fill gas and upon closing door, the doors are automatic locking, I had children in the car. This car has continue to do this and is serious safety issue. As a female I want to know these locks can be counted on to lock or not when correct. A child could easily get into car and doors lock on there own. This is known issue with Nissan.

Murano

All 4 "door lock actuators" on my 2004 Nissan Murano are defective. This issue occurs intermittently and means that the door lock will randomly not unlock or lock. Only the driver door has a key lock- meaning that for each other door, the doors must be locked from within if the lock actuator is not working or acting up. For example, if a car door is not opening, and you unlock it from within the car, then close the door, and press "lock" on your key-chain, that car door will still have not locked. The car door lock stops responding, and can only be done manually internally. I spoke to Nissan a year ago about this problem and they indicated that each door would be $400 to fix, meaning $1600 altogether. Research has indicated to me that this is a fairly common Nissan problem and that none of the dealerships are doing anything to help the consumer- other than indicating the large price tag. This issue directly affects the safety of the product- because it becomes impossible to tell whether the door is actually locked, unless the owner physically walks around the car and checks each door- and then locks the door manually from the inside.

In hot weather, the passenger door lock will not lock when the lock button is pressed, or if the key fob remote lock key is pressed. This can result in a false sense of security if the driver is unaware of the problem and increases the risk of vehicle theft.

My wife and I went out to go to an appointment when the remote access key didn't work. We tried to use our key and that failed to work as well. Basically, we were locked out of our car with no way to gain access to our vehicle. Two hours later I came out and the driver side door was open. Remember, two hours ago we were locked out and now only the driver side door is unlocked without me doing anything to it. So I test the door with the manual key to see if it all works and by some miracle it does. But once again, the remote key doesn't work. The wife took it apart and re-assembled it and then it worked. This feels like it will become a huge problem and I've read reports of the same category of Nissan Murano failures and am afraid of an emergency where the door needs to be opened and it can't be in a reliable time frame.

2004 Nissan Murano: Door actuators on all four doors are either partially closing or partially opening. This results in the doors not readily opening when trying to enter the call. This is a safety concern for two reasons, 1) it does not allow for immediate access to the vehicle in an emergent or dangerous encounter, 2) it allows others to access the vehicle when it should otherwise be secured.

My 2004 Nissan Murano passenger door lock fails to open with remote control. There are no key access on the passenger handle. I either end up thinking my doors are all locked or I try to unlock the passenger side door and it does not. 1. having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. When locking the doors it's imperative nobody can gain access at will by walking up to the car. If anyone can simply open the door to gain access, carjacking, injury, or even murder is easier. If the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment for this type of scenario. 2. Nissan knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. It's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. Remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. The drive "thinks" the door is locked, when in reality it's an "open door" for carjacking or robbery. This failure is an intermittent of operation. Sometimes the doors lock ok, other times they don't. in addition, sometimes the doors unlock ok, other times they don't. 3. in emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. Since 99% of the time we all use the button to lock and unlock doors, using the manual locking lever is unfamiliar. And the Murano's design is such that it's not easy to comprehend if it's not your car, for instance a rental car. I can easily understand how some people would be confused how to unlock a door using the manual lever in an emergency when they virtually have no experience with it. In emergencies every second counts. The locking/unlocking solenoid malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergency scenarios. Some people who cannot afford the $1600 to have all the solenoids replaced will forgo getting repaired.

The door locks don't always work properly on my 2004 Nissan Murano (has been this way for quite some time) -- it sounds like they are locking/unlocking, but the lock doesn't actually engage. It's an intermittent problem, and it isn't always the same door. I've seen many others with the same problems on this vehicle, and it seems like an open for door for a bigger problem (car jacking, etc) -- you feel safe because you "heard" the doors lock, yet you can still open it from the outside... I feel that it could possibly warrant a recall for safety reasons.

Murano

My 2004 Nissan Murano AWD SE front driver seat broke. I took it out and paid to have a guy weld it. Others have told me that it is a common Murano problem. Some suggested that it is already a Nissan recall issue but I can't get any info to prove it. It still flops around. Also the front wheel bearing went at 75K miles but that's another problem. The doors lock automatically if you slam the door sometimes. Imagine jumping out of the car to put mail in the box and when you come back it's locked ? dealer said he fixed it... he didn't. the tail gate back door latch sticks. Also the metal rim of the gasoline filler neck got rusty and pitted. Consequently the gas cap didn't seal properly and the check engine light came on. The dealer wanted 800 dollars to change the filler neck. I sanded it and fixed it for nothing.
