While driving in rush hour traffic mind U a big truck was behind me traffic is stop and go, as I press down on the accelerator there was no movement from my vehicle, like it loss power, I though maybe the gear was changed, but then it dawned on me that this has happened to me not once or twice, but it's beginning to happen more frequently this is not normal. I confirmed that the gear was still in drive, as I pressed down on the accelerator my vehicle jerked as it proceeded to take off (as if it was in turbo boost), I could have hit someone else's car (good thing I didn't). This is a very serious matter many, many lives are at stake. I'm disappointed that this matter have not raised corporate eyes at Nissan. The reason for this page is for consumers to report complaints but it seems as if I'm not getting the answering that's needed to fix this serious issue and nor are the other owners who have listed their complaints. This issue should not be addressed after people have lost their lives by having/causing accidents due to loss of power. This is scary for myself and my family. I get nervous when driving on the highway and or the expressway not knowing when this faulty power train issue will happen. Good thing that big truck didn't run into the back of me that would have been deadly. No one should have to jeopardize their lives and others. Nissan should correct this problem immediately. How and when is it determined on what complaint get addressed. Disappointed customer. Also, the actuators on my passenger side both front and back does not work they have to be locked manually along with the hatch it doesn't seem to lock either. The actuators should not go out and should be replaced.

While in the process of accelerating my vehicle from a stop, I pushed on the accelerator, the vehicle did not move, I thought maybe it was out of gear for the simple fact that it did not respond when pushing down on the accelerator; clearly that was not the case the vehicle was still in drive. However, I pushed on it again an it was big jerk before the vehicle moved forward.... this problem/issue has become very annoying, but most of all dangerous an are people lives at risk and jeopardy of causing an accident. It's very scary driving my vehicle not knowing if the vehicle will or will not accelerate properly as it should. Driving on a highway this matter becomes even more dangerous. In addition to that when pressing on the accelerator the vehicle seems to be very loud, each and every time when pressing the accelerator. I do not like putting my family's life at risk when they're riding along with me. This issue must and need to be address asap. I am very disappointed because the fact of the matter Nissan and or the NHTSA have not recalled the 2004 Nissan Murano to correct this serious matter. Lord and behold it shouldn't take anyone to lose their life or (lives) before this stalling issue is corrected. People bought this vehicle because Nissan is known to make good quality vehicles and have been known to have a good reputation for safety. I'm beginning to second guess the quality of Nissan vehicles. My kids are everything to me, so with kind regards can this matter be taken serious. All lives matter.

My vehicle was in motion on the highway going about 50mph, when suddenly traffic came to a halt, when I pushed on the accelerator, there seem to be loss power and acceleration which is very dangerous, I had my 3 kids and grandchild in the vehicle with me. As I pushed the accelerator to the floor nothing happened the car wouldn't move, good thing a semi-truck wasn't behind me, we all would have been dead. This is scared me and my family. After waiting about 2 or more minutes the car junked and lunged at a high speed I could have ran into the back of another vehicle. This is beginning to happen more frequent now maybe 3-4 days or more out the week. Stalling and loss of power (no response) while in traffic; is in deed a big factor to have this matter looked into. I've seen numerous complaints regarding the same incident my family and I experienced. There should be a recall regarding this matter. In addition, to that the actuators on both passenger doors (front and back) doesn't work, it has to be locked manually. Also, the hatch lock doesn't lock the handle gets stuck.

My 2004 Murano had a lot of stalling and stopping, problems with accelerating the car. It stop on multiple occasions. Fluid leaking, from engine and fuel tank, and steering column. Power steering is rigid, and locks, and car stops when turning.the windows went up and down uncontrollable. Power control panel, did not function. Nissan insisted that vehicle is old. I think the car is possessed. All of theses things occurred while I was in motion driving the car on highway, the roads, stationery, and especially turning, and trying to accelerate the car, and it would then completely turn off, Nissan refuses to acknowledge any thing is wrong. They stated what do you expect after buying a car this old. I just want to make sure my car is safe by your standards not theirs. After receiving my car from Nissan it was even worse, I brought the same issues to them after paying $5200 of what they said were repairs. Thanks

The date on this form could have been the first date not really sure, the most recent was one of the frightening times the vehicle stopped right in the middle of the street about (4) four times. This was traumatizing we could have been hit by several vehicles. The vehicle started jerking then all of a sudden stopped right in the middle of the street. One time reported to NHTSA, we were in the vehicle driving along and all of a sudden without a warning the vehicle stopped. No jerking, no warning light, nothing. The vehicle shut off we were in danger and my grand daughter was in the vehicle with us she was very scared this was traumatizing for us all. If this is not all already this should be on the recall list. If this is not something that can be repaired, or replaced. At the cost and expense of the maker or NHTSA I feel my vehicle should be replaced.

Vehicle stopped while driving. Car was still running but would not move. Took it to the Nissan dealership and they said it was the transmission and the main problem with the Murano is the universal serious problem with the cvt transmission and transfer plate which costs $4600 to replace. The technician said Nissan will not fix the problem, I have to buy/replace the transmission.

Traveling on the intrastate and the vehicle lost power, no acceleration to the vehicle. The engine revved but no response. In the meantime, I had to try to cross two lanes of traffic to get to the side of the road. Not a good thing to attempt in rush hour traffic near Chicago. I had it towed in, but unsure of the problem or the cost at this time.

Different mechanics have looked at it and I have spent over a 1,000 just this month on trying to fix it but they say it is an engine problem that these car have. I see many complaints and nothing is done by Nissan. I believe just like everyone else with this problem should have Nissan take care of it. I am a mother of 3 and take very good care of my car so that is runs good. I almost had an accident of the freeway because of this problem at the speed of 65 mph. This has happen numerous times now and seems to be happening more often now. Today while trying to make a left turn and the car wouldn't move we almost got hit by a big rental truck, thank god the gentleman was able to make a quick stop and we didn't get hit. Please see what can be done. Nissan should be held accountable for something wrong with these cars that they already know is there manufactures fault. Are they going to wait till someone gets killed"?"

The first time that this issue happened I was driving down a mountain with lots of curves when the car lost power. I would press on the gas pedal but the car would not respond as I started to head into a curve all the lights in my center console came on and the car shut itself off. I quickly proceeded to put the car in neutral with one hand and with the other on the steering wheel driving the vehicle as I was going around a sharp curve. I was able to start it up again but this was in my opinion very dangerous. I took it to the Nissan dealership and they could not figure out what the issue. Some months later I was driving around town and my Murano would not move even though I was pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor I pulled over to inspect the engine compartment to see if I could fined the problem. Finally after about 45 min. It regained the ability to move again. I have taken it to different mechanics but they have not been able to get a code for this problem and all I keep hearing from them is to continue to drive it until it gets worse. As I have stated before I find this issue to be very dangerous and that is why I send Nissan an email to let them know about my dissatisfaction with their product and to let them know that I will never again purchase another Nissan product.

Wife and I traveling from North Georgia mountains on a state hwy, approx 55 mph. The engine suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and felt as if the car violently downshifted (automatic transmission). There was no forewarning, no 'warning lights' illuminated before, during, or after the event. Fortunately for us, I was able to get the car off the road. The car did not lose electrical power, nor did the engine shut off. The shifter did not accidentally get moved, as the car was still in drive. After we sat on side of the road for several minutes regaining our wits, I depressed the accelerator, to move back onto the highway. The engine would not respond to the gas pedal. It just idled. Again, I pumped the gas pedal and there was no change to engine idle. I turned the ignition switch off, and back on, and the problem cleared. This is the "third such occurrence" in two weeks time. We took the car to a local Nissan dealership in lilburn, Georgia (hwy 78) and explained the problem in detail. The service advisor did not comment if they had ever heard of a similar issue with this vehicle. On the 8th of April, we went back to the dealership to find out what the prognosis was for this vehicle. Nissan did not have an explanation. Their computer readout did not indicate a problem related to our complaint. In otherwords, they had no idea, after charging us $125 for a computer diagnostic. We're back to taking it to a local mechanic to see if they can discover the problem.

Vehicle had no acceleration. When idling at a light and then depressing the accelerator pedal there was a 3 or 4 second delay before the vehicle moved. Acceleration was very sluggish for the next 5 minutes and then the problem went away. Problem happened again about 6 weeks later. Vehicle idled smoothly. Engine ran fine, just no acceleration.
