The passenger side sun visor on my 2004 Nissan Murano falls down unexpectedly while driving. This is happening at least twice a day now. I checked with the dealer and they said it is not covered under my extended warranty. It is very expensive to replace and after looking in the Nissan forum it seems that this is a widespread problem. Most consider it to be a safety issue. The visor does not drop completely but at an angle even with the passengers forehead. In the event of a collision a passenger's forehead would hit the edge of the visor causing a head injury and possible death.

I have a 2004 Nissan Murano. Both sun visors have failed and I'm concerned that it is unsafe. When the vehicles is jarred both visors will suddenly flip into the down position, momentarily distracting the driver and obstructing vision. I have a 2004 Nissan Murano SE. The driver's side sun visor will not stay up and is a driving hazard as it keeps falling in my face if I hit a bump or brake. The sun visor on my car keeps (flopping) down and falling into my view, restricting my sight while I am driving. I T will not stay in the "up position". a few times I had some close calls, but no actual incident. The dealer said that it was not under warranty any longer and it would cost approx. $250 to fix...if I had the $ to fix it I would, but I don't. also, I feel that they should fix it...the warranty was only a few months over.

The passenger side sun visor in our 04 Nissan Murano began to be hard to move up or down about 4 months ago. Eventually, something inside the visor just gave up, and the visor started falling down under it's own weight. It will not stay up. The driver side visor is beginning to be hard to move now, and if it follows the pattern of the other visor, it will fail soon. I have contacted Nissan customer service. They had me take it to the local dealer. Dealer confirmed that it has failed and advised customer service of same. He also told them that driver side visor would probably fail soon. Standard 36 month warranty will no longer cover visors as it has long since run out. I have the 100,000 mile extended warranty, but it will not cover the visors. I advised customer service that this is a safety issue, since the visor fall while driving, and obstructs the driver's vision, requiring driver to constantly lean over and push the visor back up. I also advised that I have never owned a vehicle that had visors that failed. They informed me that the warranty that would have covered the visors has expired, and they could not help me replace them. I informed them that this is not an isolated problem. There are many people on the internet who have had or are having the same problem.

2004 Nissan Murano - in mid March 2008, my driver side sun visor (lighted w/extension) fell down and no longer was able to remain in the "up" position. The visor cannot remain in any position other than a 90 degree angle perpendicular to the ground. There is no way to keep the visor up or adjust it to remain at an angle. It is completely useless and seriously obstructs forward visibility when driving, especially on sunny days. Since March 2008, I have had several near accidents. There is no way to fix the visor without replacing it. The cost of replacement is approx. $300. Searches on the internet reveal there are numerous other Murano owners experiencing the same problem.

I have a 2004 Nissan Murano sl. At about 40,000 miles, my driver side sun visor started falling. It will not stay in position, and hangs right in front of my face, unless I keep it tacked up with velcro. The passenger side visor also swings down sometimes, but not as bad as the driver side. I did an internet search on "Murano sun visor" and found out very quickly that this is a widespread problem that needs to be addressed by Nissan with a full resolution; I.e. recall. The dealer wants nearly $300 to replace one visor, which is likely to break again, according to several accounts in the message boards. This is a serious safety issue. I have almost had two collisions because of it, and once, I ran a red light because of it falling down. If I keep it tacked up, then of course there are times of the day when the sun is blinding me, so it is not safe no matter what I do.

I have just purchased a 2004 Nissan Murano and have been reading on the forum websites regarding the sun visor. My sun visor will not stay up on it's own in this vehicle. It may stay up for a few minutes, but if you hit a bump wrong the sun visor can swing down and block view of the windshield. This visor will also not stay up towards the windshield when I actually want to use it to block the sun so I can see. I feel it is a safety concern since I don't know when the sun visor will flip down and block my view of the road unexpectedly.

While doing some online research I discovered this is a common problem with this vehicle. The dealers answer is to sell me a $300(!!!!) sun visor, plus installation. This is a clear mfg defect as no other car I've ever owned has had this problem in any amount of time or mileage.

Drivers side sun visor consistently falls down while driving. This happens approximately every minute-two minutes on smooth freeways and surface streets. When this occurs, it blocks half of your vision to the road. The first time it happened, I was driving on the freeway with my infant son. I feel that this is an extremely dangerous defect and, apparently, I am by no means that only one having this problem. To replace the part is almost $300 according to the dealer and, according to message boards, replacements have not bee working either. In Arizona, there is no way to go completely without a sun visor, but having it flop down in your face each minute is unacceptable. Please do something about this. I have a 2004 Nissan Murano SE. At approximately 50,000 miles, the drivers' side sun visor had some sort of internal mechanical failure which makes it fall down in front of my face while driving. My extended warranty company refuses to fix it, claiming it is a "trim" item, and the dealership claims it is no longer their problem as the car isn't under warranty. However, it seems to me that this is a safety item, since every time it falls down, it obscures my view of the roadway. When I searched online, I found many other Nissan Murano owners on online forums complaining of the same issue with their 2003 through 2006 Muranos with relatively low mileage failures of this particular part.
