Approximately may/June of 2009, I was unable to lock and unlock driver's door of my 2005 Nissan Murano with key fob. When I asked if this could be repaired by landers Nissan, southaven, ms, I was told cost of $70 just to look at problem. In may of 2010, I noticed that the problem now includes front passenger door and rear hatch lock. The problem now occurs approximately 80% of time with passenger and hatch; 100% of time with driver's door. I have to place key in lock to lock and unlock driver's door. (no damage or accident to vehicle since purchased new in April 2005).

Murano

All 5 of the door locks on my 2005 Nissan Murano have failed within the last year. I replaced the driver's door lock actuator assembly when the lock would not lock or unlock with the key fob or button on the door. Since then all of the other door locks, including the lift gate, have experienced the same problem. This is a safety issue. In the event of an emergency, such as a fire, I would not be able to unlock all the doors so passengers could escape. If I were being stalked, I would not be able to lock all the doors quickly. The door lock problem that I have described is being experienced by 2004 - 2010 Nissan Murano and maxima owners around the country. Nissan needs to recall these vehicles and fix them!

Problem with door locks on 05 Nissan Murano occasionally working, occasionally not. This is completely unsafe and apparently a common problem in Nissan vehicles. Having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. When locking the doors it's imperative nobody can gain access at will by walking up to the car. If anyone can simply open the door to gain access, carjacking, injury, or even murder is easier. If the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment for this type of scenario. 2. Nissan knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not recalling them for safety concern is negligent. It's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. Remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. The drive "thinks" the door is locked, when in reality it's an "open door" for carjacking or robbery.

2005 Nissan Murano: Four of six lock actuators are failing simultaneously - the passenger front door, both rear doors and the rear cargo hatch. Failure were intermittent until 5/9/10 when all failed completely at the same time. You can press the lock/unlock switch and the doors will audibly appear to lock. However, they may or may not have presenting a security hazard - car jacking, stolen property, etc. Nissan has told many of us owners the problem can be fixed by replacing all the actuators at a cost of $1,600+. I find this unacceptable. There are just too many stories of this same failure in Muranos and other Nissan models that it is simply normal wear and tear.

My 2005 Nissan Murano had the front passenger door lock actuator stopped working in 2008. Today, May 1, 2010 the back passenger side door lock actuator stopped working. I find this to be a serious problem that the door does not lock and/or unlock unless you manually do it. I have children and to get the baby out of the car seat I have to reach back unlock the door manually and then go around the car to take him out. The dealership informed it would be $389 per door. I tried calling Nissan headquarters what a joke....I've been told they never heard of this problem.

Door locks problem. When I lock the doors with my control or from the inside, they don't lock or unlock. Same with the trunk, I cannot open my trunk because the system doesn't work. I contacted dealer and they told me I have to replace locks (all 5) for more than $1500 I also see this issue is common in all Nissan in different years. A recalled should be called since this is a security issue with the car. Thanks

Our driver and left rear passenger door actuator randomly does not work. It will not unlock with the intelligent key, nor the key fob, nor if we push the unlock button - we have to manually unlock it at times. We believe this to be a safety issue and are requesting a recall to fix this problem.

2005 Nissan Murano - mechanisms controlling the doors do not function properly. I cannot even open the door manually, it does not work. The trunk is also broken, I cannot open this either. This is definitely a safety issue. If I have a flat tire, I cannot get to the spare tire because I cannot open the trunk. My brother has the same car and model/year, his car locks has the same problem. My coworker has a 2004 and her locks does not work either. I was informed by my mechanic that Nissan knows about this but will not address the issue. Often times, the door failures happen after the warranty expires; therefore the owners have to pay out of pocket for the expenses.

The 2005 Nissan Murano we own was purchased used. Since we have had it (almost a year) there have been electrical problems that have mainly affected the door locks. It has come to our attention that these problems have affected many other Nissan Murano owners. Because of this issue, we cannot use the unlock the doors using the remote and further, the doors do not unlock using the unlock switch inside the vehicle. One of the main safety concerns is that of late I have not been able to open the driver door on a regular basis because the lock has malfunctioned and have had to exit the vehicle from other doors. I have fibromyalgia and the extra exertion to try to leave the car is both unwanted and painful. In case of an accident or some other event where the driver's door would be the only choice of escape it is extremely possible that I would be locked in the car and unable to get out because of the locks. The dealership has continually refused to accept responsibility for the electrical problem even though they acknowledge that it occurs in many of the Murano model cars and want to charge well over $1000 to fix the door locks. We are still trying to find a more affordable and reasonable solution to the problem but have been unsuccessful thus far. I am often unwilling to drive the car out of fear for my safety and will sometimes drive my husband's car instead, inconveniencing him.

I have a Nissan Murano 2005. Three of my doors have been diagnosed by a Nissan service center to have broken actuators. These doors don't lock by any means other then manually pushing the lock to the close position. I have opened a "file" with Nissan but they have stated they will not provide any assistance. I find this to be a safety hazard. I can understand one going bad but three means there is a deeper issue. Please let me know what else I can do? thanks.

1. passenger door lock locks and/or unlocks intermittently via the key fob or the door switch. Problem continues to happen more regularly, and leads to the front passenger door being unlocked when thinking it is locked. 2. having a secure environment is paramount & locking the doors it's imperative so nobody can gain access at will by walking up to the car. If anyone can simply open the door to gain access, carjacking, injury, or even murder is easier. If the doors locked properly this provides a more secure environment for this type of scenario. Remember, in this case there's no obvious indication the door isn't locked unless someone walks up and opens it from the outside. The drive "thinks" the door is locked, when in reality it's an "open door" for carjacking or robbery. This failure is an intermittent of operation. Sometimes the doors lock ok, other times they don't. in addition, sometimes the doors unlock ok, other times they don't. in emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. Since 99% of the time we all use the button to lock and unlock doors, using the manual locking lever is unfamiliar. And the Murano's design is such that it's not easy to comprehend if it's not your car, for instance a rental car. I can easily understand how some people would be confused how unlock a door using the manual level in an emergency when they virtually have no experience with it. In emergencies every second counts. The locking/unlocking solenoid malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergency scenarios. 3. Nissan knowing there is a security problem with their locking mechanism and not issuing a recall for this safety concern is negligent. It's an open door to a lawsuit if someone were to be murdered due to a door that didn't lock, although the driver pushed the lock button and heard the locking noise. Dealerships report a minimum $600 to $1600 to have 1 to all solenoids replaced because of the expense many will forgo getting them fixed.

My wife drives a 2005 Nissan Murano and recently we have been having problems with the door locks. There are times when they work and other times they don't. I'm concerned that if my wife is in an area of some concern that there is a way to lock all the doors. In an emergency there is no way to know if the doors will unlock when you need them to. Since the only door with a key hole is the drivers door, if there should be a situation were my wife and daughter should need to rush in the car, this would be a problem. I took the car in to the shop to get it checked out and they told me that the door actuators needed to be replaced. The gentleman told me that the actuators aren't sold separately but that the hole assembly would need to be purchased at $409 each. This appears to be a way to greatly over charge. I think that if there wasn't a defect it would be an isolated issue but when they all start malfunctioning at the same time, there is definitely a problem. After leaving the dealer concerned that this just didn't sound right I started to research on the internet and found this to be happening to several Nissan vehicles. If this part is causing difficulties then Nissan should make the part simple to replace. I have also researched into the cost of some door actuators on the internet and find them to range around $25. Since I'm not a mechanic I don't know if the part can be purchased outside of Nissan and would still work. Thank you
