I am having the problem on my 05 Nissan Murano, the passenger front door does not lock or unlock with the remote. This is big safety issue. Yesterday my gas door failed on me ones.

'05 Nissan Murano-the door locks on my '05 Nissan Murano do not always lock/unlock electronically. Sometimes they will lock and sometimes they will not. I have not been able to consistently reproduce the problem but it seems that the door lock actuator is getting weak or something is preventing the proper current from getting to the actuator. It could be a combination of the two problems, sending weak current over time has caused the door actuators to become weak, and as a result magnified the current problem. Regardless of what has caused the problem, the fact is, there are multiple people having the issue, and it is not as a result of normal wear and tear. This is a manufacturing or design flaw and therefore should be addressed by Nissan. This is one of the most basic functions of the car and it does not perform reliably. I cannot even begin to express the safety issue of thinking that a door is locked when it is not. And if there is a bigger electrical problem, then it most definitely needs to be addressed.

The doors do not unlock by any electronic signal from the panel or hand held device, making the matter worse for the back door which can't be unlocked period. Since there is no manual override to open the back door, this is a serious safety issue and should be repaired and redesigned by Nissan as the responsible producer of the vehicle.

Failure of one or more door locks to respond to electric lock button or intelligent key. Intermittent at first, but then two doors finally ceased responding. Replacement of actuator required. Research conducted online indicates that malfunction of doorlocks within the first 5 years of a Nissan vehicle's life is common. In addition, it was discovered that a local dealership maintains an inventory of replacement actuators for Altima. Fortunately I haven't required immediate response of the door locks to protect my family in an emergency, however, it is not out of the realm of possibilities. Therefore, I have been replacing actuators in each door as they fail.

I would like to report a safety issue with my 2005 Nissan Murano. Around June 1, 2010 I started experiencing an intermittent problem with the power door lock on the front passenger door. At this time the power locking actuator has completely stopped working and the door has to be locked or unlocked manually. Failure of the locking mechanism can lead to the door opening at an undesired time causing injury or death to passengers in the vehicle. This is the reason for my report to the NHTSA. After researching the issue on the internet I found this is a common problem with these vehicles. I feel, as do other people I have spoken to regarding this problem that Nissan should be held responsible for repair of the issue if in fact it is a common problem due to a parts defect. I am having the inoperative lock replaced but have found out in many instances all the doors at one time experience this problem.

The locks on my 2005 Nissan Murano have started to not work unless manually operated. First, the rear passenger side door would not open or close with either the button or key fob, only manually, and then it was stiff. This went on for several months and then the front passenger door also began to fail, only operating manually. Shortly thereafter the rear hatch/trunk door also intermittently fails to open, though with the rear door, there is no manual open. The Nissan dealership inspected it and insists that the door actuators need to be replaced on all affected doors, which is very expensive. And upon doing online research, this is a common problem on Murano's and other Nissan vehicles. The lock problem presents a potential safety hazard of not being able to open doors in a timely manner in case of fire, and also in retrieving infants and children from the car, which I do on a daily basis. In addition, if more door locks were to freeze up, there is only one manual key entry into the car.

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano SE AWD and have experienced progressive problems with my door lock actuators resulting in an unsafe vehicle presumed to be secure. At approximately 50K miles, the right front passenger door lock became intermittently inoperative when using either the interior door lock switch or the intelligent key fob button. Then, at approximately 54K miles, the right rear passenger door lock also became intermittently inoperative in the same manner. Now, at 59K miles, all doors except the driver's door do not operate with either the interior door lock switch or the intelligent key fob button. Recently, the vehicle was taken to a Nissan dealership service department, where they diagnosed it as a problem with the door lock actuator. Further, I was told that the front right door lock actuator is a control point for all other door locks. This is of great concern as I was assuming, as I'm sure others have, that I was driving in a secure vehicle when in fact, I was unsecured from four other entry points to my vehicle. This poses a threat to my and any of my passengers' presumed personal safety from would-be assailants gaining access to the vehicle through locks thought to be secure. This could also have serious - even fatal - ramifications in the event of an accident if the doors of the vehicle are thought to be locked (having no reason to believe otherwise), but were not. This creates the serious potential of occupants to be thrown from a vehicle door that could open during an accident due to faulty door lock actuators. Even in my short search online, I have found numerous calls for action by other drivers, particularly of the 2004-2005 model years of my same vehicle. This is not an isolated occurrence. Immediate corrective remedial action must be taken by Nissan usa to resolve this life-threatening defect.

About 8 months ago I started experiencing door lock problems. First the front passenger door worked intermittently. Now the driver door and rear gate work about 5% of the time, if that. I believe this is a safety issue. When I first contacted the dealer they indicated that it was not covered by the warranty and that I may need the actuators replaced for each affected door. Needless to say, the work estimate was unacceptable to me (car had already exceeded 75,000 miles).

Just randomly, nothing occurred to cause this issue, my locks began acting up on my 2005 Nissan Murano. It randomly will not lock or unlock my doors. This is a huge issue for me being that I thought I was not going to be able to get my 3 month old baby out of my car. I had to go to the other side of my car and crawl through. Door locks on my 2005 Nissan Murano quit working through key fob, drivers side and passenger side doors. Only way to unlock is to put key into driver side door and then manually unlock all others, to include rear hatch. Started with front passenger door and then made its way around the car one door at a time. Took car to Nissan dealership and they told me it would cost hundreds of dollars just to diagnose the problem so I didn't pursue. Wanting Nissan to fix because apparently this is a common occurrence.
