The driver's side sun visor falls down and will not stay up. This distracts the drivers ability to see and is a serious safety concern that will directly result in accidents. This is a common problem on this vehicle and an issue that has been reported by many Murano owners.

My sun visors, both the drivers side & passenger side, will not stay up. The dealer has replace the drivers side three times now & the passenger side 4 times and it works for awhile but then they fall down again. The drivers side visor is a real hazard as you can imagine! I believe there should be a recall on these. I logged onto a Murano forum and found out it is happening a lot with other owners and almost all of them say it is not the visor itself but the clips they fit into. I think the dealer should have realized how many times they were replacing them and investigated it further for a permanent fix.

When lowered to block sun, driver side visor hangs in driver's line of sight and will not stay up when lowered. As such, when trying to block the sun, the driver has to look around or below the visor to see out of the front window. The visor will stay up against the roof of the vehicle, but when lowered to block sun it will hang in line of sight. Passenger side visor will not go up at all and hangs in passenger's line of sight and partially blocks driver's line of sight. I had an extended warranty and was told by the dealer that the fix would not be covered for repair.

2 incidents 1) both driver and passenger side sun visors will not stay up completely causing issues during driving (falling into driver's view while driving). I have never had this issue with any other car I've owned (Honda, Ford, Chevy, Toyota). Average replacement cost per visor is ~$200 which is a little steep. 2) when car reached 104,000 miles, the driver's seat rear left bracket cracked. This occurred while making a right turn from a stop. Date of occurrence is May 4, 2013. After researching this online, I found several Nissan Muranos have this issue. The left rear support was not designed for long term application and is a flawed design. I also found someone that welded their bracket together from youtube which may be the route I may take if a recall is not implemented. Average replacement cost of driver's seat track assembly (heard they will not replace just the bracket) is ~$700. I also heard there have been accidents due to this design flaw, though cannot confirm. My hopes are you're looking into this.

My research has shown that Nissan is aware of this problem but will not voluntarily fix it. Instead, they are charging $400 to repair this problem that almost every Nissan Murano has.

The driver's side visor of the vehicle constantly drops down without warning, causing viewing obstruction. It does not relate to road conditions (I.e. bumps or off-roading), weather (happens regardless of hot, cold, or normal temperature), or any other factor. This appears to be an ongoing issue with countless vehicles affected. Nissan needs to issue a recall and fix the problem at no cost to the consumer. When I asked a Nissan dealership about it, I was told it was due to the wearing out of the mechanism and a new visor would be ~$300 (including a $30 labor charge, which is ridiculous considering I've taken apart the visor myself and put it back together and I am in no way mechanically inclined). Velcro does not fix the problem as the lining of the interior of the car is cloth ~ the velcro does not stick sufficiently. Trying to keep the visor in the down and left position (against the driver's window) blocks the view of traffic, as does keeping it in the down and forward (against the windshield) position. I essentially have to drive with my left hand constantly either on the visor or within reach of it in case it starts to drop, leaving me with one hand to drive and react. This is a major safety issue that Nissan is fully aware of and refuses to acknowledge, which severely impacts my faith in their products. I have driven two other Nissan (both frontiers) without issue; it appears this is only a Murano issue. I would hate to have to give up my car, which I greatly love in every other way, but I cannot continue to jeopardize my own safety as well as that of my family with this problem.
