The pivot, which attaches the driver's side seat to the car, broke. Now the seat wobbles severely and in the case of an accident, would not be firmly braced to the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Murano. While driving approximately 65 mph the front drivers began to shake. The vehicle was pulled over and upon examination he noticed the seat was detached from the mounting tracks. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was confirmed that the front drivers seat detached from the mounting tracks. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 57,000 and the current mileage was 63,000.

Broken welds in the driver's seat base frame. First broke abound 4/9/2008. Aftermarket seat heaters had been installed by a vendor previously. Took vehicle to vendor, found broken welds in the driver seat base, causing the base to drop down and to the left. Vendor removed the driver seat, aligned, reinforced, mig welded the affected areas. Vendor reassembled and tested seat, appeared to be solid. 9/15/2010. Driving vehicle at moderate speed (35-40 mph), loud "pop", then left rear side of drivers seat dropped down. No loss of control, but now an obviously unsafe situation. 9/22/10. Took vehicle back to vendor (see above), vendor pulled off access panels and verified that welds performed in 2008 were solid and that the frame had broken in another spot. Declined to even attempt a repair at this point for safety concerns and advised contacting dealer for new part. 9/22//10 visited Nissan dealer, seat inspected by technician, stated that the rear lower drivers seat frame was broken and would need to be replaced. The service dept quoted a price of $750 parts, $275 labor, for a total of $125 plus tax. This is a serious safety problem in my mind. The car has 44,000 miles, was purchased in, and spends much of it's time in Florida. There is absolutely no rust or corrosion anywhere I know of. I believe this is a defect and should be covered by Nissan.

I have been driving my Nissan Murano for at least three years with a broken seat. I file a complain three years ago. Everybody that I know who owns a Nissan Murano has the drivers seat broke. I have been reading a lot of complains about these problem and the ODI has not issue a recall. How much is Nissan corporation giving to not do a recall?; im sure that if the Nissan Murano owners get together we can collect more money to make ODI to do a recall these is ridiculous. I can let you drive my Murano so you can feel who hard is to drive my Murano with a broken seat. ODI needs to work on these problem right away.

My driver side seat in my Nissan Murano frame cracked. While I was stopping at a stop signed and I thought I was going to go head first in the windshield. I F my kids was in the car then no telling if I lost control or hit my head no telling what would have happened. This is a follow-up because I am understanding that this issue was reported before and simply "dropped" by your department. This is a "safety issue" which could have been disastrous had the seat collapsed when our daughter (short and tiny) was driving the vehicle a few days earlier on a trip from springfield to richmond va. Thank god she did not encounter the problem then. The support for the seat broke! we have the part. This should not have happened and Nissan should take responsibility for the replacement. People are "welding" the part back: What happens if that should break and an accident occurs? one should not be encouraged to take this route!! we would hope that your department would take this seriously and have Nissan recall these vehicles for a total refit of the seat before catastrophe happens. Got in vehicle and driver right seat came unattached from the floor and is still like that. Wobbles back and forth and not attached any more creating a huge safety issue. I purchased my 2005 Nissan Murano in March of 2009. In March of 2010 my drivers side seat broke. Looking under the seat the one of the metal support bars has come unwelded from the track causing the seat to lean to the left against the door. I have had a Nissan vehicle since 1995 and have never had any major issues.

I was driving North on I-75 in atlanta, ga. My driver's side rear seat bracket broke. I nearly had an accident since the seat shifted and forced me to change my body position unexpectedly. Nissan Murano drivers seat defective - while driving my Murano last year, the seat weld in front broke causing the seat to lean excessively and almost causing me to have an accident as I was driving. The Nissan dealer said it was a common Nissan defect but since there was not a recall I would have to pay for the repair. I paid my mechanic to weld the front break and to include additional support braces. On Tuesday of this week, while pulling into a parking lot at 5pm, a different seat weld in the back broke causing the seat to lean to the right while cornering left. Because of the extreme and sudden movement I lost control of the car, rolled across lanes and up onto a curb, almost taking out 4 people sitting at an outside table at the local glory days restaurant. I could not reach the brake pedal because of the angle. Luckily, I did not hurt anybody or damage anything other than possibly throwing a wheel weight off of the front right tire. From visiting many Murano owner forums, I see that literally hundreds and hundreds of owners have had a similar experience with these welds breaking and have been told the same thing by their local Nissan dealerships "it's out of warranty and unless a recall is put out, you're paying close to $1000 for the fix". a manufacturers or design defect that almost caused me to run over 4 people yesterday should indeed be a concern of Nissan and it seems that it is not. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

2005 Murano driver seat "popped" when entering car. Seat now has excessive movement up and down in right rear corner. Very unsafe condition to drive in since there seems to be no solid connection to the frame. After removing seat discovered the linkage mechanism between base rails and seat bracket had failed - stamped metal part had catastrophically failed in two locations. Failed part is integral to seat frame and cannot be replaced. Similar repairs noted on internet quoted at approximately $1000. Design constraints for the part should have exceeded the cars intended lifespan and should not be affected by normal usage. Safety of driver and occupants could be severely impacted if vehicle operated with this condition. This is a pathetic failure on any vehicle - let alone one with only 75K miles.

This is a safety issue and a manufacturer's defect. My vehicle was not involved in a collision or other event that would cause the seat to fail.

On July 31, 2010, the driver's seat on my 2005 Nissan Murano made a popping sound, and suddenly started leaning to the left. A few miles later, there was another popping sound, and the seat started rocking left and right, and was very unstable. I took it to the dealer's service department today, and they told me the seat frame was broken and that it was a common problem for this 2005 Nissan Murano. The seat breaking unexpectedly is a serious safety problem, as it causes the seat belt to be incorrectly adjusted and can be too tight or too loose. Also, if this broke when I was driving on the freeway, I could have easily lost control of my car as the seat lurched to the left. If you do a google search for "2005 Nissan Murano seat frame", you can find hundreds if not thousands of complaints about this exact issue. Nissan refuses to repair the seat, even under extended warranty, and they won't issue a recall. This is a known manufacturing / mechanical defect, and it should be repaired at no cost to the vehicle owner.
