2005 Nissan Murano. Consumer states welds have broken for a second time on the driver's side seat.

The driver seat frame broke under normal use. No unusual stress was placed on the seat to cause it to break. With this in mind, this could be a safety issue while the vehicle is being driven. The back seat frame breaking while being driven could cause an accident if the driver loose control of the vehicle when the seat back breaks; particularly if both sides break at the same time.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the failure, and confirmed that the frame on the bottom of the seat needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and did not offer any assistance, stating that the vehicle was not under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 60,000. Driver seat lifter assembly weld broken. Was $400 to repair. I have seen in numerous forums that this problem is very common with Nissan Muranos. How can you trust that the car will be safe in a crash if the drivers seat welds are prone to failure.

Driver's seat. Underneath the rear of driver's seat is a metal bracket that snapped, causing seat to rock. Brought it to two places and was told it's probably a factory defect. Brought back to dealer and also filed a claim with dealer's Consumer Affairs department and was told there was nothing they could do about it as far as a factory recall or repairing at no cost to me.

Nissan Murano 2005 front driver seat has come loose on one side, is lopsided and rocks back and forth while car is in motion, while turning, braking and when it comes to a stop. Even while you are wearing your seat belt you have no safety restraint as your body is projected forward and sideways from your seat while driving. I weigh 170 and my wife, who is the primary driver weighs 125 lbs. During one driving incident, my wife was averting a tree limb on the road and made a quick, but slow turn only to be jostled to the side of the car and hitting her head on the driver window. Luckily she was not injured as the turn was minimal. Nothing extraordinary happened to lead to the seat break. One day my wife sat in the seat and noticed it felt funny. The seat repair is not under warranty. Cost of repair would be upwards of $1200. An amount we cannot afford.

This is a safety issue that affects all 2005 Nissan Muranos. The drivers seat support has a design flaw making the vehicle unsafe to drive, the flaw is in the design and construction of the driver's seat support. It makes the support support so fragile that it breaks, thus disconnecting the seat from the seat rail. This support will break during an accident, or suddenly, without warning, while the car is in motion. If broken during an accident, the seat will not perform acceptably as part of the safety restraint system; (the safety restrain system is comprised of the seat, the seat belts, and the airbags. They work together to minimize injury in the event of an accident. With the seat loose, the entire system's function is fatally compromised); aggravated injuries or unnecessary death may result. If the failure occurs while driving, the design flaw could cause an accident. In my car, the seat broke while driving at slow speed, making a left turn in a residential area. There was no warning, just an noise, and the seat suddenly was loose. I took it in for repair immediately, the mechanic stated that he has seen several of these recently, Nissan is stonewalling customers on this, the repair is very expensive. Thus many are choosing to continue to drive their car with the seat broken, in order to avoid the high cost of repair. This represents a growing population of unsafe vehicles on the road. As stated above, these vehicles are not only unsafe for their owner/drivers, they also represent a risk to others sharing the road.

I am writing in regard to a 2005 Nissan Murano. The driver's seat support bracket has broken. The seat is loose and rocks and wobbles. A driver cannot sit securely in the seat as it moves while you are driving. In looking under the seat it shows that the left steel bracket has totally broken in half leaving the seat unsupported. I took the car into the dealership and they said it is not covered by Nissan, and since we are out of warranty, it will cost $900. I cannot afford this so the seat remains broken. I asked the mechanic about it and he said their hands are tied as Nissan will not authorize the repair on a recall basis. The mechanic has seen several of these, but he said that ours is the worst one he has seen. Most of the others have just been wobbly, but ours is totally broken. He offered to talk to someone at Nissan about it and "go to bat for us". this should be a recall item as more than 8,000 have reported this problem. If there is ever an injury to a driver as a result of a broken seat there will be a law suit that will cost them more than the recall.

While temporarily stopped, there was a loud pop from under the driver's seat and the left side of the driver's seat dropped with the driver still seated in it. The seat is now loose and rocks back a forth as the seat support frame attaching the seat to the floor has broken. We are 1,700 miles from home and are faced with a long drive home with a dangerously loose and partially detached seat. We had been driving on very smooth roads in a normal manner and nothing has occurred that might cause the failure of a seat support system. In several million miles of driving, this is the first seat support failure I've ever witnessed, but a quick search on the internet indicates this is an all too common failure for this particular make, model and year car.

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano. Recently, the driver's seat broke, causing it to rock during regular driving and tip over when going around turns. Nissan North America and the dealer refuse to repair the seat under warranty, stating that it is a result of "normal wear and tear". I did some research on the internet and learned that many people have the same problem. I attempted to locate the part myself and learned that Nissan has changed the part number seven times, in attempts to fix this problem. I was unable to locate the part as it is in high demand. The driver's seat is a major safety concern not only due to the bouncing and rocking but the possibility that it will disconnect completely. I can't even fathom how this seat would hold up during an accident. Last week, while I was driving to work, a tractor-trailer entered my lane of travel. I swerved to avoid hitting it but, due to the broken seat, my body flew toward the passenger side of the car, nearly causing me to totally lose control of the car in the process. My car ran off the road but, luckily, I did not hit anything.

2005 Nissan Murano- driver's side seat frame snapped at the weld and entire seat now teters back and forth diagonally. Car was only 4 yrs old when it happened. Girlfriend's car is same model/yr and same happened to her this year (Nissan looked at it and did nothing). This is an absolute safety hazard and an obvious factory defect/design flaw. Nissan should have recalled this but is doing nothing for its customers. Is it gonna take personal injury due to a car accident or even the loss of an innocent person's life for Nissan to consider this a hazard?

Drivers seat is off hinge. Took it to Nissan for review. They said it's not covered under warranty due to mileage. Known issue for seat to break on welded left corner but will cost over $1000 out of pocket to fix. Had Nissan customer service investigate, they refused to cover as well. Faulty seat known issue and cannot get them to pay to fix it.
