I BOUGHT THIS MURANO NEW MFR BUILT 2005, ENGINE 2005, I BOUGHT 2-2006. ONGOING ELECTRICAL, BOOTS LEAK, FRAME BROKE, JUST EVERYTHING. NEVER ENDS. PROBLEM STARTED FROM BEGINNING OF OWNERSHIP.
I PLAYED THE RADIO WHILE CAR TURNED OFF. THEN I WENT TO GO START MY CAR IT WOULDN'T START. THEN I STOPPED PLAY RADIO ALL TOGETHER. ONE DAY MY CAR TURNED OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING, LUCKY NO CRASH. NISSAN REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY IT WAS ALTERNATOR RECALL, BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I COMPLAINED AND THEY DID NOTHING. SAID I'M OUTTA WARRANTY. I WAS FORCED TO BUY ANOTHER ALTERNATOR. ON RECALL IT STATES FAULTY ALTERNATOR, BUT I KNOW IT IS ELECTRICAL A MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM!
I CONTINUE TO HAVE MY CAR NOT TURN ON AND HAVE TO CALL FOR TOW FOR JUMP. IT IS UNRELIABLE UNSAFE, IT IS A LEMON THAT CANNOT BE RESOLD. IT IS SO CORRUPT WHAT NISSAN HAS DONE. I ALSO CALLED THE STATE AUTO INDUSTRY COMPLAINED AND THAT WAS ENTIRE JOKE. THEY DO NOTHING TO HOLD THIS DEALERSHIPS ACCOUNTABLE FOR FAULTY DEFECTIVE VEHICLES. THEY SAID NO ONE ELSE COMPLAINED.
I SEE ON INTERNET A LOT OF COMPLAINTS. THESE CARS THE MECHANICS TOLD ME ARE LEMONS. . THEY MAKE THEIR MONEY AND GET OUT OF IT. MANY LIKE ME ARE SO DRAINED EMOTIONALLY FINANCIALLY THAT IT'S HARD TO GO THRU THIS PROCESS TO WANT TO FIX IT. IT'S TOO BIG OF A PROBLEM. BOOTS LEAK ALL THE TIME NEVER EVER GET FIXED. ALSO THE FRAME OF CAR BROKE, HOW THE HELL CAN YOU BREAK FRAME?
I AM ONE WOMAN SINGLE BY MYSELF, I COULD'VE BEEN KILLED IN THIS CAR I HATE NISSAN I HATE THIS CAR. I HATE THE INDUSTRY THAT PUTS OUT THESE CHEAP DANGEROUS CARS. MAY IT ALL COME BACK ON THE GOVT. THE CORRUPT LYING DEALERS, LYING MECHANICS ALSO. SHAME ON YOU ALL. DOING THIS TO AMERICANS JUST TRYING MAKE A LIVING. BIG PROBLEM BIG BURDEN. IT SO FRUSTRATING WHEN YOU END UP WITH SUCH A BIG EXPENSIVE PROBLEM AND YOU CAN'T EVEN GET TO WORK. SO SAD. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR DON'T EVER EVER BUY ANY NISSAN VEHICLES.

While driving the abs light came on and I slowed down and the car didn't respond to the gas pedal. It kicked back in after a minute so I went to the dealer for a diagnostic and they said everything was fine nothing is going on right now. So after leaving the dealer ( Len stoler nissan in owings mills, MD) later on that night while on lunch break it did the same thing only this time it cut off, thank GOD the traffic was light. Got a jump that lasted for one block before it cut off again not to cut on anymore. Had it towed back to the dealer where they blamed the battery and said they can't do nothing until I buy a new one. So I bought a new battery even though my old one was only a year old. After they installed the battery again they told me the same story - everything is fine nothing is wrong, you just needed a battery - everything else checked out fine. Two hours later after leaving the dealer the same thing happened again. While I was driving the abs light came on and the meters went crazy and the car cut off. It was not the battery! Because they say my vin isn't in the range they refuse to check the recall for the alternator. Nissan corporate office finally called me back just to say we're not gonna assist you financially and that's that. Has this problem happened with anyone else? If so was it fixed and how? Also is anyone pursuing legal action against nissan.

On January 17th while driving 35 mph on city streets the battery light and the brake light came on at the same time. This identical symptom had occurred a month before. At that time I took the car to a repair shop where they checked the battery, the charging circuit, the brake fluid level and the brake pad thickness and found nothing wrong. They cleaned and greased the terminal connections on the battery. When they reconnected the battery the warning lights both disappeared.
I considered the previous experience a false alarm so when it happened this time I ignored it. Both lights stayed on. Yesterday while again driving on city streets the vehicle lost power. The engine continued to run at idle but the transmission was disengaged. I was able to roll off the main thoroughfare on to a side street and park. Had vehicle towed to repair shop.
Repair shop charged the battery and determined the alternator was not producing a charge. Took the alternator to a repair shop and they advised it was "Fried" and advised the vehicle had something more serious going on that "killed" the alternator. This vehicle has been well cared for and not abused. I'm wondering if the computer has a "self destruct" feature but I see similar Muranos with higher mileage.
