Sunvisor not staying in place, falls to impair visibility. Both sunvisors have failed and will not stay up, or in a position. Nissan is not interested in the safety of its owners/drivers.

The sun visor drops down unexpectedly, blocking the drivers view. There is no warning that it will drop down, and it takes the drivers attention away from the road in order to get the visor out of your field of view. Seem very dangerous. There was no crash, but was very very close to one. Scary!

While driving at about 30 mph my drivers side visor suddenly came down so as to block my vision of the road ahead. This startled me and distracted me while I flipped it back to its normal up position. However it did not stay up. Nissan dealer told me this is a common occurrence and is about $250 to replace the visor. To this day it will stay up for awhile but will come down especially if it is warm in the vehicle. This is very annoying and potentially dangerous.

Started noticing that the driver side visor would drop down for no reason. I now have the same problem on the passenger side. I have had numerous occasions with near misses with other vehicles because of this thing falling down. They have big adds about texting while driving and its dangers. How about a complete loss of vision @ 70 mph. I have contacted Nissan many times and have never gotten a reply. I have visited Nissan Murano forum sites. There are a lot of other people with the exact same problem. I would think that NHTSA would want to work to prevent a death rather than waiting until someone or a family is killed because of these visors. But then again if that death was caused because of the visor, how are you going to know. Their dead. Please do something.

Fuel gauge started to failed and check engine light turned on. I took the vehicle to the dealer and quoted for replace the two failing fuel sending units $100 to inspect + $700/$800 part & labor. Of course is not covered by Nissan. How many other brands beside Nissan have you seen with this problem? I am simply appalled by the lack of concern from Nissan. After reading complaints about air bag warning lights, drivers seat collapsing, visors falling blocking the view of the driver, check engine light coming on due to fuel gauge failure, wiper motor/transmission going out. My Nissan Murano has all these problems and more. I cannot believe Nissan does not identify this as a safety issues and allows the consumer to pay for these faulty components. The fact that Nissan does not stand up behind their products is an insult to everyone who bought this product. Nissan offers no assistance despite the clear premature failure of the components. We love teh car but it should hole together better than this. Theres are not items caused by high millage jut plain poor designs. Seats breaking - no way, visors falling down - no way, fuel gauge failure - no way, air bag warning light - no way, wiper motor/transmission - no way - please help us!!!!

Both visors on my Murano continually fall down blocking my view while driving. This seems to be a very common problem and I can't believe Nissan won't step up to fix the issue. What's worse, they want to charge you $400 per visor to fix the issue. Why won't the NHTSA step in to get this issue fixed?

This has been happening for about a 2 years now. I decided I was tired of getting upset and slamming the visor on the top of the roof when I hit a bump and it falls. I am tired of driving 70 mph on the interstate and all of a sudden the visor drops and blocks my vision. I almost was in a wreck yesterday because of this stupid visor. I researched it and realized there are multiple other complaints about the Nissan visor and this exact issue. Someone is going to get killed with this stupid thing.

My driver's side visor has suddenly decided to keep falling down. It will not stay in the upright position. It slowly works its way downward. When I hit a bump in the road the other day it just fell all the way down. This was while changing lanes and could have caused an accident due to the distraction and the visibility issues. I have the gold extended preferred warranty, and Nissan states it isn't covered, yet I don't agree that it is a wear and tear item. I don't even use the visor enough for it to be worn and torn....I think it jut fails over time, perhaps due to heat from the sun. This appears to be a recurring problem based on the complaints actually filed here at NHTSA and the postings found online. A goodwill warranty program would seem to be in order here at the minimum.

2006 Nissan Murano has sun visors (driver and passenger sides) that drop down unexpectedly while car is moving. After much online research, it appears this is an ongoing problem with this vehicle and previous years' models as well. It is a safety hazard due to the fact that you never know when it will fall down and block the driver's vision. The cost to have this repaired at the Nissan dealership is approximately $500. This is an excessive amount especially since the failure is caused by a small plastic piece that wears down from use. Nissan has had plenty of time and opportunities over the years to correct this problem, but the company hasn't done so. My family will never purchase another Nissan because of this issue with the sun visors.

I am having trouble with the visors in my vehicle, they keep dropping while driving, its very dangerous, it falls at any given time and I try to keep it up by holding it while I'm driving. The driver's side sun visor does not stay in place, and several times has fallen down obstructing my vision while I have been driving. From searching online I see that this is a widespread problem with the Nissan Murano and is clearly a manufacturing defect. Nissan dealers want over $400 to replace the visor... ' what's the point of replacing it with one that will likely have the same problem? this more than just an annoyance, it is a real safety hazard that will result in accidents and people getting hurt or killed, if it hasn't already. I'm amazed there hasn't been a recall to fix this problem. Nissan, do the right thing and recall this faulty part or this will absolutely be the last Nissan vehicle my family ever buys.

My wife was driving when the drivers side sun visor fell down impairing her vision. This caused her to scrape the passenger side rims on the curb. I believe it is now out of alignment. Luckily no one was injured, but this could have caused a serious accident. I have read other complaints about this same issue. I believe the problem is not the visor it's self (although it is really heavy) but where it actually mounts to the ceiling. Why Nissan will not own up to this and correct the issue is beyond me? guess they don't really care cause the already got your money.

The passengers and drivers sun visors suddenly began falling down as the vehicle is driving and goes over any dip or minor bump in the road. The visor drops and blocks the drivers view of the road. The same occurs on the passenger side. The visors will not stay up in the closed position. This is apparently a defect in the 2006 Muranos and Nissan should recall the Murano for this issue.
