My driver seat just went loose and it is not safe to be driving in that condition also add that both sun visor falls down and will not stay up blocking my view. I called Nissan about it and the person that answered my call just told me I'm very sorry to hear that, but none of you Murano problems are on recall so you would have to pay out of your pocket. I will appreciate if you can help me ( and hundreds of costumers) with this issue that Nissan just kept on getting away with it, I been very close to crash due these problems and seems that Nissan do not care about safety only money.

Normal driving - driving my child to school. Driver side seat suddenly fell on the left side. Injuring my back. The seat bracket on the left rear seems to be cracked/broken. The seats rocks forcefully without notice up and down even on slight turns. Almost lost control of car on a very high elevated freeway turn as when I turned to the left, the seat abruptly came up turning my body to the right - that movement made me then suddenly pull down on the left side of the steering wheel, which then forced the car to suddenly swerve to the left. Fortunately, there was no one next to me and I was able to recover. If this were to happen to someone on a higher speed freeway turn ramp, there would be a high chance that they would loose control and possibly cause severe injury or death, depending on roadway and space/design. The car is now very dangerous to drive as you have to try and balance yourself using your left leg/foot pulled up to seat. When cornering you have to put so much attention on trying not to swerve as the seat rises & drops you depending on which way you are turning. The rising and dropping on turns, naturally pulls or pushes your body which is holding the steering wheel - this then causes a severe sudden pull one or the other way. It also takes your attention off the road and surroundings. In conclusion, when researching this, I have seen this under defects but no recall. There are hundreds of complaints of this poorly designed lower seat frame and one day this will end up killing someone. I sure hope it does not take that to become a recall item.

2006 Nissan Murano, front seat broke loose in left rear corner while pulling out of a parking space in a store parking lot. Caused my body to suddenly shift in the seat and drop back. Lucky this wasn't on a quick curve or at highway speed - could easily have caused an accident. Numerous on-line forums abound with complaints of the driver seat breaking loose in this way.

Murano 6-cyl

  • 47,228 miles
On June 25th, 2011, I got into my 2006 Nissan Murano (the mileage is only at: 47,228) to find my driver's-side seat had come loose from the floor on the back left side. The chair isn't 'a little loose'-it comes completely off the floor on that side. When I made a broad left turn on my way to the dealership, I felt the seat tilt underneath me and, even though I was driving very carefully, it still scared me. I gripped the wheel tightly but because my body was being sent to the right, the car went that direction as well. I was able to stay in my lane, but had I taken the turn faster and not been aware that my seat might shift, it would have taken me completely by surprise and I would have ended up in the civic next to me. I went online and there are hundreds upon hundreds of similar complaints, too many of which detail how the seat broke while the driver was taking a turn or coming to a stop, and caused the driver to swerve into on-coming traffic, jerk the car onto a sidewalk nearly hitting pedestrians, or caused them to drop back so hard they slam their shoulder and head into the driver's side door (please see www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2005/Nissan/Murano/seat to see just how many people have already been put in dangerous driving situations because of this bracket defect). And that is just one website full of angry consumers that cannot believe the danger they were put in, especially because Nissan knows this bracket is defective in five years worth of Murano models (2003-2007). It obviously severely compromises the driver's ability to maintain control of their vehicle, especially when it can happen so suddenly while in the process of coming to a stop light or simply going around a curb. As I mentioned above, the loose seat made me jerk my car even though I was driving carefully and was aware of the problem, so I can't imagine my reaction if it happened all of a sudden and while taking a tighter, faster turn. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed.

One week after my extended warranty expired the driver's seat frame on my 2006 Nissan Murano suddenly broke, while I was driving. It scared me and I thought I was about to have an accident. The frame broke in the rear left section of the frame. The seat now bounces rearward. This has got to be a terrible hazard. I see numerous other consumers have had or are having this same problem and Nissan needs to be accountable. Lives could be lost because of this hazard.

The driver's seat frame on my 2006 nisan Murano suddenly broke. The frame broke in the rear left section of the frame. The seat now bounces rearward. To temporarily stabilize the seat, I have wedged a piece of wood between the frame and the floor. Fortunately the break occurred in my driveway. Had it occurred while driving and turning a corner, vehicle control could have been lost.

2006 Nissan Murano sl drivers seat motor failed in car with 30,000 miles on it. As a result, I cannot reach the gas or brake pedal. I have been able to use pillows to get me to the pedals. I filed a complaint with Nissan in July 2010 and also in June 2011. Research on car forums shows this is a common defect. The part needs to be replaced - estimate is $1200. Nissan should issue a recall on these seats.

I have a 2006 Nissan Murano, and yesterday my wife was driving it and the seat broke. This is the same complaint as every other Nissan Murano owner has had apparently. The back left part of the seat broke. Nissan wants $1000 to fix a faulty part. My wife is lucky to have not gotten into a wreak. This is a very dangerous issue.

Structural failure of the anchor/bracket on the left rear side of 06 Nissan drivers seat. I would hear a squeaking when I would sit down but found mount bolts tight. Sat in it 6 July 2011and drivers seat broke and fell to the rear and towards driver door. Unsafe to drive in that condition. Looked it up on-line and found numerous other complaints about this part. Right now I have a piece of wood supporting the seat so I can get it to dealership. When will something be done on this defective part" does someone have to die first"
