Murano 6-cyl

  • 19,000 miles
The sun visor on the drivers side of my 06 Nissan Murano falls down constantly blocking my view when I am driving. It has been replaced once but now the replacement has been doing the same thing. Sometimes it will stay up for half an hour and then other times it falls every 5 minutes.

Driver's side sun visor has failed. The visor will no longer stay in an up position this problem interferes with my visibility while driving. Today I took my Murano in for service was told by the Nissan service center that it would cost me $420 to replace the visor. I strongly believe this is a manufacturer's defect and a serious safety issue. Nissan should be recalling and replacing these visors immediately.

When you try to use the driver side visor, it will only work in the completely down position. As I am 5'-7" tall, the visor in this position almost completely blocks my view. Some other times it just drops down on it's own. I have a Nissan Murano 2006. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Sun visors on my 2006 Nissan Murano fall down when I go over rough pavement or dips. I push them back in place, and as I am driving they start working their way to the down position. Dealer says my extended warranty will not cover it. This is definitely as defect in part workmanship. Nissan needs to admit parts are defective.

Murano

  • 46,171 miles
2006 Nissan Murano. Problem began ~40K mileage. Driver's side visor will no longer stay in up position for more than few minutes of driving, less if any bumps in the road. The visor cannot be set to hold any position other than vertical at 90 degrees, causing severe diminished visibility. Visor will drop without warning creating hazard. Repair estimate is $400. Have been unable to locate used part for replacement. Visor temporarily held in place with package sealing tape, but this too is a hazard if needing to use visor to shield direct sunlight. Hundreds of complaints about this problem found on internet search. Appears to be faulty part from Nissan. Severe accidents are only a matter of time.

  • 70,000 miles
2006 Nissan Murano. The drivers side sun visor drops down abruptly and obstructs the drivers view. This started approximately 3 months ago on my vehicle. Out of the blue, the visor will flop down even though it is securely in the clip. The problem lies within the visor itself as I have removed the entire assembly for inspection. The local dealer wants over $400 to fix a problem that is safety oriented. Nissan corporate is of no help. Their "fix" is to apply velcro to hold the visor in place.

2006 Nissan Murano drivers side visor will not stay up. The spring that holds it in place has malfunctioned and made it safety issue as I cannot see the street lights in front of me when I am at a stop light. If I put it to the side to get out of the way it is in the way of my side vision.

Murano

  • 35,000 miles
2006 Nissan Murano driver & passenger sun visor does not stay in place. The mechanism for the sun visor malfunctions. When placed in the up, locked in position (not in use) it pulls away and hangs loosely. When placed downward to block the sun the visor does not stay in a locked and angled position. It has suddenly dropped and obstructed my view. This is a safety hazard and may result in an auto collision. I live in Colorado where the majority of our days are sunny. I am often forced to support the sun visor by holding it in place with my left hand while driving only with my right hand. This is a safety concern for me, as a driver should have both hands on the wheel while driving, I wear sunglasses however, the suns glare is often so intense that the visor is necessary especially during rush hour traffic when I am driving West towards the sunset. The last time my visor malfunctioned was yesterday, 10/1/10 while commuting in heavy rush hour traffic (5pm mst). Nissan corporation should take action to recall & replace the sun visor mechanism.
