NISSAN SHOULD PAY FOR THIS REPAIR. IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD. SHOULD THE SEAT BREAK WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE DRIVER WOULD TOTALLY NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR, WHICH COULD EASILY RESULT IN A FATAL INJURY. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CARS DURING MY LIFETIME, AND I HAVE NEVER HAD THE SEAT BREAK. I CERTAINLY DO NOT HAVE AN EXTRA $1,000 TO PAY TO FIX IT. I LOVE MY NISSAN MURANO; HOWEVER, I WILL DEFINITELY NOT EVER PURCHASE ANOTHER NISSAN MURANO BECAUSE OF THE WAY NISSAN DID NOT HANDLE THIS CRITICAL ISSUE.

Just wondering how many of my fellow Nissan Murano owners are dealing with QUALITY ISSUES. Just recently the bracket holding my driver's side seat in place snapped. The dealer says it is a $1,535 repair. After 6 calls and 3 hours on the phone trying to reach someone at Nissan to find out why this is a COMMON PROBLEM with this car I was told that Nissan will not fix the problem because it is not a "safety issue"......I would tend to disagree with that, but I'm no safety engineer but what I am is a consumer who knows it is a QUALITY PROBLEM. I am not the only Nissan Murano owner that has this problem, there are many....and we ALL feel that that we should not have to pay over $1000 to repair something that should be able to stand the test of time.

Just curious, Nissan, how many Fords, Toyotas, Chevy's do you suppose have their car seats literally break? It's not something that should wear out over time, like say tires. Maybe if I was told that my driver's side car seat would only work for 5-7 years and then I would have to replace it I wouldn't be so shocked....as for my sun visor, well, I guess I can buy some Velcro strips or maybe DUCT tape. How's that going to work out for my resale value? For more information GOOGLE "Nissan Car Seat Broken" and you will see what I mean.

seat structural failure seat structural failure seat structural failure

I have nothing but regret for buying this vehicle! Countless trips to the mechanic, most of the cost covered under warranty and extended warranty, minus the $1000.00 or so It cost me in deductibles. It's been a real inconvenience. anyway to the latest fail. I experienced a very frightening ordeal while driving my Murano. I was approaching an intersection and was forced to suddenly break to avoid hitting a distracted driver. It really scared the hell out of me when there was a loud crack and my seat began to shift back and forth as I started to move forward again. All I could think was what the hell now! anyway the rear bracket holding the drivers seat to the floor cracked and came apart. the fail is no where near a weld so I can't understand how metal could fatigue under such minimal use. Clearly this is a manufacturing failure and should absolutely be covered by Nissan! The car is now inoperable as is and is costing me $650.00 to repair! How does this affect the safety rating of my vehicle? I bought a car with seat belts because seat belts save lives... car manufacturers are required by law to install them. I suppose I should take some small consolation in knowing, if my seat where to tear free in a collision because of faulty substandard seat brackets, I will still be strapped into my seat as I'm launched through the front windshield! because of course the seat belt is attached to the seat and not the frame of the car! Shame on Nissan for putting their customers in danger and not correcting the problem!

Murano SL 6 cyl

  • CVT transmission

Seat frame part broke, wore out.THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.

I don't want to find out what happens if I am in an accident if the aeat has not been repaired yet.

I spoke to a few Nissan dealerships who have all seen the problem more than a few times.

The part is approx $150 + labor to install.

Nissan should recall this part since they are huge safety hazard especially if it breaks while driving.

I plan to get this fixed and pursue a recall reimbursement!

This is a known problem that Nissan seems to have ignored. It is all over the internet, so I know it is not only not just me, but has affected thousands of owners. When I took it into my dealer, I was told that as it was out of warranty, they would charge me a rather significant amount of money to fix it.

Murano S 3.2L V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 57,000 miles

While driving with my children and making left a turn, the driver's seat bracket failed causing the left rear of the seat to dip down and rock back and forth. The seat is now unstable and it is unsafe to drive the vehicle. Upon doing some research online, I have read numerous complaints that NHTSA and Nissan are aware that these seats are a problem and that previous concerns and requests for a recall on this issue have fallen on deaf ears. I think Nissan should take responsibility for this manufacturing defect and fix these seats before someone is injured.

Left rear anchor of driver's power seat - seemingly a cheap/weak metal part, broke after a service at Nissan. Service people never mentioned it. Nor did they at next service... I am waiting for a recall as every single small/simple repair is bloody expensive on that vehicle!

Murano SL 3.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 47,000 miles

After considerable research I realized that the problem is very common (-driver's seat left rear side anchor has structural failure). The source of this problem is - use of inappropriate materials which are not durable enough. Nissan should announce a recall for this problem. It is a safety issue. Even if nobody YET was seriously hurt.
