Braking issue started few months ago. We had brake pads replaced twice, rotor etc. by two different shops. The issue didn't go away. The brakes suddenly become very soft and go all the way to the floor but no stoppage. My wife had couple of close calls. The dealership said that they were not able to reproduce it in shop and said that the brakes were fine. We forced them to recheck it and yesterday they came with lame excuse of recalled brake fluid. They flushed and re-bled the brakes. The car worked fine on the way home but started the same brake issue this morning. My mechanic has told me that there is a issue with Nissan Murano 2009 brake abs/sensor issue that a lot of owners are complaining about online but Nissan has refused to take action/mass recall!!

The Murano brakes went to sponge feeling where top 10% feels like pressure is applied, then zero braking pressure until almost floor. I can get the car to stop by pressing very hard against the brake pedal. Usually, the problem fixes itself after the next engine on/off cycle, but not this time. I will have to bring it in. It Looks like it will be big bucks (2K+) to fix looking through the threads.

After thinking my brake problem was fixed, I went over a small bump on a surface street and my brakes once again went all the way to the floor. Since I wasn't going very fast, I was able to pump the brakes a bit and get it to stop but I'm not sure how to fix the issue. It is obviously related to when the ABS activates.

Traffic on the freeway came to a sudden stop and I tried to stop suddenly. My brake pedal went COMPLETELY to the floor and the car hardly slowed down at all. I was forced to swerve into another lane to avoid hitting the car in front of me. Then my brakes were mushy but they stopped a little bit better. The problem seemed to go away after flushing the brake fluid but came back a week later after going over a bump.

,I was taking my son to childcare and myself to work when I tapped the brake it went all the way to the floor. We were very fortunate that nothing was in front of us. We could have hit someone else or even wrecked. Once we got it to a mechanic he said we were very lucky. He said it was not the brakes and it would cost $2,200 to fix. He said he has read that it had been a big problem on this year Murano but no recall. Really!

Knowing a vehicle you built to be save for all families and you choose not to take responsibility! He told me he could put a different year part and it would cost $1,300. I didn't have a choice. Did I mention it was Christmas time and that would be money out of my pocket. Not a happy customer. I now am concerned that since we had to place a different year part that this could happen again and possibly have a worse outcome.

I tried to stop quickly and the brake went to the floor. I pumped the pedal and was able to stop. I took it to the dealership. They said it was the mater cylinder and replaced it under the warranty with my co-pay of $200.

Went to stop quickly and the brake went to the floor again... after they already replaced master cylinder. Took it back to the dealership today and they called to say it is the ABS actuator and not covered under my ext. warranty... cost $2,480. I called to let them know that they have had recalls on other years for this ABS Actuator and that there are many complaints online for this. This should be a recall. So far I haven't heard back from them.

Bought car in 2015 with 83000 mi. In 2016 hit pothole lost brake pedal. Went to an inch or so of the floor. After sitting overnight pedal came back up when car was in reverse. Same thing in late April, hit rough road lost brakes. This time they did not recover. Had a mechanic look car over. He said master cylinder was good, booster was good. Have brakes now,but spongy. Mechanic suggested ABS module and pump may be bad. When the loss of the pedal occurs the car will still stop. Just doesn't stop fast enough for an old man with a heart condition!

I have had issues when I hit a bump, the brake pressure goes out and the vehicle is uncontrollable. There will be no brake pressure for several hours, then it get back to normal. I went in for auto repair the second time it happened and the mechanic suspected it was the master cylinder. MC changed and 2 weeks it start happening again. It has happen four times since then. The mechanic suspect it is the ABS pump failure since it is not detectable by the computer. He is able to reproduce the failure but the computer would not signal any error.

Anyone has same issue or the solution?

My brake was fine before i hit the pothole, then after i hit my brake pedal went all the down to the floor and I had to pump the pedal every time I had to come to a stop, Even when I called a tow truck drive came the next morning, a mechanic told me it could be because of my dead battery so we put a new one, so the tow truck driver he said that the brake pedal was still going to the floor and to be careful. I am not understanding what happened and why but there is a problem

First off, I'm a woman so pardon my crappy non-manly terminology...

So, many, many months ago I noticed an obvious change in my brakes from one day to the next. My brake pedal would have to be pressed all the way down for my car to actually stop. No indicator light on my dashboard ever came on. So, since then, the brakes have gotten a tad better, but never got anywhere near as good as they were the day before. Mind you, both my mom and brother had driven my car that night so I haven't a clue what in the heck happened. Anyhow, I became accustomed to my malfunctioning brakes and became expert driver staying 50 miles behind the car in front of me and driving really slow.

I kinda forgot I had a brake problem until I took it in to NTB to get an inspection and it failed. NTB mechanic inspected and flushed my brakes then after seeing the problem persisted, suggested it was my master cylinder. I then took it to a 2nd AWESOME mechanic named Josh who fixed my AC and replaced my master cylinder, however he ended up swallowing the cost of the master cylinder because the problem persisted even after he replaced it and bled the brakes. Josh then insisted that the problem was my ABS Controller. He suggested I take my car to dealership, let them know what's going on and see if they diagnose it as he did. So I called dealership, told him the problem, and the dealership mechanic said he's seen quite a few instances where the ABS controller is malfunctioning. BAM, gave me the exact same diagnosis.

I came on this site to see if there was any recalls but does not appear to be. My car has 130k miles and I'm a bit of a tight wad so I don't really want to fork out that money but I keep being told that this is very dangerous (despite the fact that my car still does brake as needed and functions just fine outside of this problem) and I'm a bit scared I'm gonna die. So... all insight appreciated!
