This has happened on two different occasions. While driving the vehicle the alternator has gone out and there is no warning that there is any problem but you lose your throttle control and the car loses power and is unable to accelerate. The 1st time this happened I was in the middle of an intersection trying to make a left turn and lost all power to be able to move the car. Luckly no one was coming in the other direction, or I could have been involved in a serious accident!!! I had the alternator check and it was bad, so we replaced it. The second time this happened was two days ago I was doing 65 MPH on a four-lane highway and without any warning I lost power and could not accelerate I was able to pull to the side of the road, but m emergency flashers were of no use due to the battery was low because the entire car was using it for power. The car has no gauge or light of any type to warn you that the alternator has failed till you lose power and are unable to accelerate.

As with the current Nissan recall the car just shutoff. On two separate occasions, one at highway speed on a high speed heavy traffic road and once of a neighborhood road. Both times spontaneously and without any warning or trouble lights or indications of a problem. Vehicles was towed and serviced at a Nissan dealership.. Both incidents were extremely dangerous one to get to shoulder in high speed traffic and to exit vehicle next to traffic and the other at night in a dark neighborhood. Dealer was without explanation on cause so we dont know if the problem is fixed or not. Prior request #602941

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an unknown speed, the passenger-??s side air bag light flashed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the battery was reset, and the warning light disappeared. A few weeks later, the warning light returned, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the failure with a defective sensor inside the passenger-??s side seat. Upon investigation, the contact linked that failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 08V521000 (Air Bags, Electrical System). The manufacturer was notified and informed that contact that there were no open recalls on the vehicle. The contact was also provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

It was night time I was by myself and thankgod for a man who helped me get the car to the side of the road I had no power or anything thought it was the battery bought a new one and it happend again on the freeway as I was getting of in lemon grove turnoff I was lucky I was getting off the freeway because I had no lights power nothing worked come to find out it is the alternator from what im reading online hundreds of 09 owners have this same problem and it needs to get dealt with before someone dies because when your car loses power its done not even a jump will help please recall these alternators. Buying a new one doesnt fix the problem. The same problem with the 04 mrano alternators. Is happening to the 09 Murano alternators they need to be rebuild not replaced them I dont care how many times I need to complain or who I have to call to get this fixed obviosly it is Nissan responibility cause its happening over and over again does someone have to die for you guys to regognize how bad of a problem this is.

I was driving the car and stopped at a red light. When I hit the gas to go when the light turned green the car would not go. It took about 20 seconds before it would go and when it did it acted like I had my foot on the gas pedal which I did not. It has done this numerous times. I replaced the fuel pump and took it to a mechanic twice. Nothing that has been done has fixed the problem. I have almost been rear ended several times due the fact that the car stalls.

My Murano loses power while stopped or upon acceleration from a stopped position. All my vehicle lights inside and out flicker and flash. Theses lights include dome, dash, radio, outside lights headlights, park lights, brake lights. I've taken it to the dealer for diagnostic and they always say it's the battery. I've had 5 Nissan batteries in 5 years. I've had the alternator replaced with no relief for the electrical problems

I have a repeated electrical issue with my car. At first, I thought my issue was diagnosed improperly but I was recently on the NHTSA page and found over 20 complaints that expressed the same exact issue I have been having. That issue being the fact that my car, when in motion will completely shut off on me and go into neutral. This will happen without any warning and for me has happened both times on the highway while going 75 mph. Once the car stalls out, the power steering will also go out in about 30 seconds and the engine will completely shut off at that time. Therefore, you have about 30 seconds to roll your car to a safe spot in order to avoid a crash. There is no turning the car off and then back on, as when you try to do so all of the dash lights will come on and the engine will not start back up as the battery is dead or close to it. If you are lucky you can get jumped but the battery becomes so drained that it cannot even hold a charge for a miles worth of power. Both times I have had to have my Murano towed into a shop. The first time this issue occurred I was told I need my battery replaced as it was dead and that was the cause of my engine failure. This sounded strange to me at the time, as the battery that I had was a little less than a year old but I was just wanting to pickup a working car and put this behind me. My car worked properly for 48 days before I again, had the same exact issue occur to me, while again traveling on the highway going 75 mph. This time, there was not adequate space on the highway to pull over and I had to call 911 in order to avoid a crash. Again, I had my car towed and was now told it was an issue with the alternator, which I then had replaced. I am now worried this issue will reoccur as people are stating they have had their alternator replaced 2 and 3 times and are still being put in these scary, engine failure situations

I was driving down the highway. There were no warning lights on my dashboard aside from the TPMS light. There was a loud pop noise, so I pulled over to check it out. Within 30 seconds smoke came from under the hood and quickly turned from white to black. Then the vehicle caught on fire. It was completely burned with nothing but the trunk left in tact.

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Murano. When the vehicle accelerated, there was a loss of power and a delay at times before finally gaining speed. In other instances, the vehicle had a drastic reduction in speed. The alternator assembly was replaced more than twice, but the failure continued. The vehicle was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 05V319000 (electrical system); however, the vehicle exhibited the same failure as the recall campaign. Moses Nissan (300 maccorkle ave, St albans, wv 25177, (304) 727-2921) was notified of the failure. In addition, the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 18V916000 (service brakes, hydraulic), but a repair appointment had not been scheduled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

While driving vehicle lost power, when trying to accelerate no power and noticed drop in RPM. Also battery and brake lights flickering. Was able to get car home however a week later with my children in the car it happened again only this time it completely died, after having it towed home, after jump start vehicle started right up without hesitation, and ran fine. System checks good and battery is new less than 60 days. Very dangerous as there is not warning to sudden loss of power and stalling. Vehicle lights radiio etc all still work but vehicle won't start. Nissan recalled earlier models alternator for same symptoms however not my vehicle year. Same set up location as the 03-07 models same problems just no recall on 09 models. Car has power lights radio etc just looses ability to accelerate and if engine stalls then requires boosting to be started again. Runs fine after no warning lights and then without warning happens again.

On a main road parked off of a highway, car battery and brake light started flickering, suddenly as I tried to pull onto main road and car randomly forcefully stopped as if went to neutral wouldn't accelerate in any gear. I had to roll the car back into a parking spot quick as possible as there was oncoming traffic. I then turned car off then on and more lights on the dash illuminated, ABS, brake, battery, and trackion control as well. I turned the car off to then try restarting again and wouldn't do anything as, completely dead. Had to leave the car overnight parked til the following day for a tow since it never started back up. Waiting on what caused this problem, definitely unsafe, could have caused a accident due to going into a neutral like mode as driving onto a main road and near a highway
