This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Nissan dealer.
The wife uses this car to meet doctor appointments, shuttle our 14 year old son for his needs and travels to our granddaughters 4 times a week to teach. Dependency and safety factors were main issues, when all of a sudden the vehicle stops in traffic and with children strapped in car seats, it is difficult. This was 2 weeks ago & after I close out of this complaint I will write one for what occurred last night...

The Engine had to be replaced the 1st week, brand new off the lot, car would not go over a few miles an hour after only a few days ownership. Engine then blew a rod out the bottom at 36k while traveling. Had to replace engine while OUT OF COUNTRY at my own expense because they would not cover the car traveling to their closest dealership.
Had CVT Tranny checked at 52k and just under 10 year warranty expiration due to some slight lagging. Dealership said it failed diagnostics and needed replacement. JIM CLICK in Tuscon. Since then nothing but problems. In parking lot started car and and would not go in reverse.
Took it back to JIM CLICK before 2nd tranny warranty was up and they said they should have replaced axle seals. Replaced them but could not duplicate 'no accelerate' problem. Said they would make notes and ask Nissan for assistance if it continued again. Different MASTER MECHANIC looked it over and said AXLE SEAL is now leaking.
Made appt again at JIM CLICK but they are already making excuses over phone (with only 63k miles on car) and telling me diagnostic is $280 dollars just to see what they did not find the first time!! Today made really strange loud noise when started car up and today 3 different times would not accelerate from red light or stop! Had handicap person in car and was very scary!!

THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS. I THINK THEY NEED TO REPLACE THESE . HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY LOST THEIR LIFE BECAUSE OF THE VEHICLE NOT WANTING TO GO ANYWHERE WHEN THE GAS IS PUSHED DOWN? I DON'T DARE LET OTHER PEOPLE DRIVE IT IN CASE SOMETHING DOES HAPPEN. CAN NOT EVEN LET MY KIDS DRIVE IT.

Just sad that this happened. Still a very good Body and interior. But will cost so much to fix, and the Radiator has gone out too. I keep the car serviced.

I have pulled into traffic only to have my car not accelerate causing the car behind me to slam on their brakes. Today, the car behind me had to pull over into the shoulder to avoid hitting me.
Over the past several years, I’ve taken my car into Nissan Service complaining about a rumbling noise/feeling, the car intermittently fails to and/or hesitates when accelerating. The cause of these symptoms were NEVER diagnosed properly. Now the symptoms occur more frequently. The loss of speed and/or the ability of not gaining speed along with the normal flow of traffic, could cause somebody to hit and/or kill me! This is VERY dangerous, today I was lucky by not getting hit.
A few weeks ago, because the symptoms happen more consistently Nissan diagnosed the problem as a transmission (CVT) issue. Although they have admitted a defect in their CVT transmissions by extending the warranty, they REFUSED to repair mine because it’s out of warranty. I have records which show I took my car to several different Nissan service depts. complaining about this issue when the transmission WAS UNDER warranty.
This is a MAJOR safety issue, just doing a quick google search, I discovered Nissan’s CVT has allegedly been blamed for a couple of deaths and multiple car accidents. It’s a hazard to drive my vehicle, and NISSAN should RECALL and REPLACE all these transmissions. As I said previously, today I was lucky, the next I may not be!

I had my murano since 2013 and just about 6 months ago It started having problems. The vehicle wouldn't pick up speed when stopping, jerking, and not reliable at all. I still owe $9,000 on this vehicle and now I have to get a new vehicle because to me it's not worth putting $4200 into it. I'm so disgusted with this vehicle and Nissan of Chesapeake you guys won't ever get another dime from me.

My 2009 Murano intermittently pauses and slows down while in driving and/or hesitates and will not go when starting up from a stop at a red light. It happens for a few seconds and then goes like normal. This is extremely dangerous in fear of getting rear ended. Dealer had it for 4 days and drove it. tested everything, ran tests and no codes came up, checked the spark plugs, nothing was found and the problem was not duplicated. They were unable to solve what was going on. This problem is not a one time incident and I feel i cannot trust my car.

We bought the car used and thought it was just user getting use to the peddles. After driving it for almost a year and knowing the issue is still there makes me think its the car and not the driver. When you accelerate from a stop the car lunges forward and then is sluggish when trying to increase speed. It is difficult to gauge how much pressure to use on the peddles. In my opinion, this is an accident waiting to happen.

I love my Murrano and paid a lot of money for it but can't drive it. Just looking for info. It is sitting in the driveway and I'm still making payments on it and I'm upside down.

We bought this car in 2011 it was a certified Nissan with approximately 38,000 miles on it from a Nissan dealership in Glendale Heights, Il. Within in three months after purchase it was blowing out blue smoke at startup. I took it into the dealership and what I suspected was the result of poor lubrication during the first two years after the car was initially sold. The dealership was trying hard not to make good on it, but in the end, they replaced the engine. Good on them finally. The tilt and telescopic motors have failed twice, and the dealerships wanted $600. to fix and repair. I have fixed them myself with an hour of labor and $38. in parts. My main concern now is my CVT transmission is now hesitating then launching often at stops, (very dangerous if you are trying to merge or get into traffic). I had learned over the years that these transmissions will fail between 125,000 and 140,000 miles if not sooner. This is insane. We don't drive hard or recklessly; we are in our seventies. I have learned of class action suits for this issue but have no idea if our transmission would qualify. I have had quotes between $4000.00 and $5800.00 to replace the transmission. I feel Nissan has offered damaged goods and should make good on these poor transmissions.
