problem #2

Dec 012015

Murano SL V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 140,000 miles

transfer case leaks but dealership monitors the fluid level so I can take my time to repair it

Update from Aug 30, 2016: My 2009 transfer case is also leaking and Nissan would not assist with the cost. I believe there should be a class action lawsuit on this matter because it is a design defect.

On 11/22/2014 I visited Route 22 Nissan in Hill Side, NJ for a regular oil change. By the way, this is the dealer where I purchased the car back in August 2012. A Service adviser then just slapped me with a written estimate in the amount of $4,167.97. It would be: Engine oil cooler: leaking, $ 281.05, Transfer case : reseal, $1,450.87, Oil pan Gasket:, $ 250.87, Radiator hose replacement- lower, $309.06, Radiator hose replacement-upper, $196.43, Coolant flush $179.99, Set of 4: 235/65/18 tires. My tires are a little over two years old. Do I really need new tires!! It just caught me by surprise. I questioned them. How come, just suddenly my car has all these problems?

Next day I went to a different Nissan dealer. I discussed the problem with them, even showed the repair estimate from route 22. This dealer asked me for my car info, entered it in the computer, and then just made my day with the disclosure to me that my car has a warranty of seven years, or 100 thousand miles. It is a certified pre-owned vehicle. Why route 22 Nissan dealer fail to mention that to me? The Transfer case: reseal was fixed at Hudson Nissan, RT.440, Jersey City, NJ. I was told to check if I would see any leaks. I asked a local Meineke shop to put the car on the lifter, and check the transfer case. It was leaking. They called me, and showed it to me.

I called Hudson Nissan again, and we set a day for me to return. Here is what they did. We going to check the car again. A few minutes later, they call me took me under the car, and argued with me, that was no leak. What they did, was nothing, but wiped the leak, and then call me. It is leaking still. I am going back again. I also intend to contact Nissan, America, BBB, and NJ consumer affairs. Definitely, 48danielfb@gmail.com
