This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Nissan dealer.
According to my transmission guy who has 45 years in the business, Nissan knows their transmissions have problems and choose to ignore the issue until sued.
Update from Oct 27, 2018: Required a complete transmission replacement. Parts and labor was $4,100. Was able to get the dealership (small town Nissan dealer) to install an ETE remanufactured transmission which was warrantied for 36 months/Unlimited mileage parts and labor rather than what the dealer would have gotten from Nissan (12/12).

I love my Nissan Murano, this is the second one I've owned. I ALWAYS went to Nissan for ALL my service, and I took really good care of my car. However, it started to stutter when I tried to accelerate, so when I took it in for an oil change I mentioned it, the first mechanic I said it just needed a tune up, $55 plus, but they couldn't do it that day, I was to bring in back in the next Monday.
So when I did another mechanic that worked on my car previously, happened to walk by and ask what was wrong with my car, and I told him, he said that it didn't sound like it need a tune up to him, so we went for a test drive and he confirmed my suspicions about the transmission slipping. He said that it should be covered under the 100,000 mile warranty, but when we got back to service center they said it was only a 60,000 mile warranty. I may have a lot of miles on the car but they are all highway miles, not city. I have had about 6 other cars with a lot more miles on it than 88K and never had to replace the transmission.
Then about a week later I was in Jacksonville having dinner with an old friend who just happens to be a mechanic, I mentioned my problem to him and he told me that Nissan has had issues with their CVT transmissions and that they had changed the warranty back to 100,000 miles. I was shocked that my dealership would have treated me so poorly, I have purchased 2 cars from them, plus sent them several other customers. They should take care of their customers when they know they have an issue. BAD KARMA, BAD KARMA....

The dealership had my car for 6 mos. due to the check engine light coming on and tranny slipping. I was told that they were replacing the transmission only to come to find out that it didn't happen. Once I hit a deer with their vehicle, my car was all of sudden "fixed" the very next day - still same problem. I finally dealt with Nissan Arbitration after being denied a claim through the BBB. They replaced the CVT tranny but now the accelator lags like I'm driving a 4 cylinder car! They offered a settlement but I'm denying it.

ive taken my car to nissan twice now with the engine light coming on, they have hooked it up to a computer and phoned head office in the states, they tell me they aren't sure, could be one of 3 problems so they told me to drive it untill it becomes significant. well now its significant with hesitation upon acceleration and shuddering. i travel mostly highways and feel the vehicle in this condition is a hazzard and could ultimatly will result in an accident. im bringing it back to nissan and going to insist it be taken seriously. I have owned a murano previously and never had an issue with it, i also own a maxima, again, no issues. i paid for extended warrenty, 160,000 kl or 5 years and this started at 163,000. i hope with this being an issue with nissan that they would take my extended warrenty and loyalty int consideration. im soon to be pensioned and a hefty feel ontop of the lease im paying monthy will put me in a bad situation.

At the time it happened, I was not happy but a couple miles down the road, it worked good.
