On March 28,2016 early afternoon my family and i were driving on the highway our 2014 Nissan Murano when
suddenly we heard a very loud explosion above our heads, Then shards of glass started to shower my wife and a big gust of wind entered the vehicle. We were both in shock and didn't know what was going on, but was able to safely pull the vehicle over. With inspection of the vehicle i found that the sunroof had exploded, I had no clue how this happened as the roads were clear and no vehicles around us to have kicked up any rocks,
We contacted the local Nissan dealer and Nissan Canada, they both were able to come to the same conclusion, without even looking at the damage or inspecting the sunroof, that the explosion occurred 99,99% from impact from a rock. They both denied the claim and do not believe that a loud overhead explosion followed a showering of shards of glass is deemed to be a valid safety concern to it's customers.
Just an FYI if you drive a Nissan, be ready to shell out $1800 out of your own pockets in case your sunroof explodes, which with some online researching occurs more often then you would expect.
