daytime running lights with no taillights. LED daytime running lights are so bright on newer cars that they light the road enough to drive at night without turning the headlights on. the vehicle is completely invisible and black from behind. the dash lights are on all the time so there is no way for the driver to know they are driving at night with the headlights off. this is true with many auto manufacturers, a simple software update could repair most older vehicles on the road today, make the taillights come on with the daytime running lights, that would take care of the safety issue of drivers who forget to manually turn their headlights on at night. the following news cast explains the issue. 2017 nisson Murano. I picked up this car to assist my son shuttling cars, at night, I started the car and the halogen headlights came on automatically leading me to believe the car had automatic lights. In fact, only the front halogen lights were on but no running lights on the side or rear. I only discovered the situation after driving several miles, with drivers behind me occasionally flashing their lights to signal me. This equipment behavior is very deceiving and dangerous.
