About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
I own a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder xe 4X4. I took the car for the safety inspection earlier today. It did not pass the safety requirement because the rust has compromised the frame and made the car unsafe to drive. Rust vulnerability is a wide spread problem with Nissan's SUVS. I love my Pathfinder and have invested a lot of money in this car and I'm very sad to see it go to the junk yard because the manufacturer used an inferior quality recycled metal in manufacturing the frame and other parts of the body. Over the years, I strugled with rust eating up parts of the body and finally even the frame got eaten by rust. Nissan should take responsibility and address the rust problems or nobody will buy a second Nissan ever!
