Going 70 mph and the tire tread ripped off like a fruit peel. The tire still had had all its air in it when I came to a stop. I did not crash and no body was hurt. I sent the tire to Firestone for them to look at. They said the tire was not inflated correctly and it was my fault. My insurance co. Has paid for the cost of damage but not for my new tires. I would like to know if there is a class action suit that I might contact? I still have the tire with me. I asked Firestone to send it back to me and they did. The tires were 60 thousand mile tires and I had about 30-40 thousand on them. I have pictures and a short video of the old tire and its mates showing the tread depth.

I had two of these tired come apart on me. One fortunately was flat in the driveway leaking air through the missing tread area. The second we were not so fortunate on. We were on the highway when tread tarted chunking off. I was able to pull over and stop the car without injury to the kids I was transporting to school. The local Firestone dealer said it was something I had done, either by my driving habits. 4 wheeling which this vehicle is not used for, or hitting pot holes. Against my judgement both of the problem tires were replaced with new ATX's. in light of your invetigation I felt I ahould forward this information to you. I live in Colorado, obviously not in the area where Firestone claims the problems are and the incident occured on C470 before university. In douglas county. I don't know if this will adi in your investigatoin or not. I am very thatnkful none of the 4 children and my self were injred and that the vehicle damage was limited to the tires.( dot number: Vdhl1pm205 tire size: P235/75R15 )
