Pathfinder SE 3.5L V6

Nissan says it must be replaced for $1000. A mechanic came out and told me before I leave to go to a muffler shop to have it welded back together for very little. Actually $125.

It's a known fact (Consumers Report and Nissan dealerships) but no support available.
