Nissan refuses to complete recall work as vehicle is no longer in salt state...code put in by initial technician was for non-salt state...technician was unaware that the vehicle was originally sold in and was in salt state for four years prior to moving to non-salt state.

The contact owns a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder. The vehicle was parked when the contact stated that he noticed a strong odor of gasoline from the vehicle exterior. He then inspected the vehicle and discovered that the odor was coming from the filler tube. The dealer advised the contact of a potential recall on the vehicle under NHTSA campaign id number: 07V435000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap). The manufacturer advised the contact that they were unaware if his vehicle was included in the recall and would later return his call with a decision. The manufacturer did not return the contacts call and the contact was unaware of his vehicle was included in the recall campaign or not. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 105,000.

A strong odor of gasoline is present after filling up and lasts until the tank is approximately 3/4 full. This problem began 2 weeks ago. It occurs every time the tank is filled. The problem has not been corrected. The NHTSA website indicated that a recall was issued in 2007 for this problem. The manufacturer's report date is 9-12-07. The vehicle is a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder and was originally sold in New York. I am the second owner and purchased the vehicle in 2004 in North Carolina. Consequences of the defect are possible gasoline fire and total destruction of the vehicle and death of all passengers. The vehicle is parked and will not be driven until the dealer honors the recall. So far all conversations with the dealer and Nissan have been fruitless, and both parties declare the vehicle has no outstanding recalls and they will not honor the NHTSA recall because they have no record of any such recall. When I pushed them with the information on the NHTSA id number for the recall, their response was "the NHTSA does not own Nissan." The NHTSA id number is 07V435000.

I received a recall for my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder for a faulty fuel filler tube. I had to replace my tube a couple of years ago due to leaking gas. How do I go about getting reimbursed for this work?

The filler pipe on my Nissan Pathfinder is rusted and causing a gas smell. Have called Nissan on recall campaign 07V435000 and they claim the car is not covered, even though the problem is identical to the recall campaign.

2001 Nissan Pathfinder le - smell gas and noticed gas leaking. Found out that Nissan has a recall for this, but our vehicle VIN is not included in the recall. Our vehicle has the very problem described in the recall....why is our VIN not included?

The service engine soon' has been on and off for about 1 year on my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder (mileage is a little over 70,000). I take the car to a garage (delmar auto & radiator Inc., 90 adams street, delmar, NY 12054, 518-439-0311) on 8/1/08 to have it diagnosed ($144.40) and the code says the oxygen sensor (P0140) needs replacement ($219.37). The work is done and after about 80 miles the service engine soon comes back on. I take the car back to the garage (8/7/08) have it diagnosed ($144.40) and the code says mass air flow signal is weak ($563). The work is done and after about 20 miles the service engine soon comes back on. I call the garage (8/18/08) after they return from vacation and they will take the vehicle to a Nissan dealer and have the ECM reprogrammed at cost.

The contact owns a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder. In 2007, the contact received a recall notice for the fuel system, gasoline towards the end of April. He called the dealer to schedule an appointment for the recall repair and they stated that he would need to bring the vehicle in for inspection. Afterwards, depending on the diagnostic results, they would determine whether or not the components needed to be replaced. The recall notice stated that the component would be replaced no matter what; therefore, the contact believed that the dealer should replace the defected item regardless of the diagnostic results. There had been no failure to date. The recall number was unknown. The current mileage was approximately 77,000.

The contact owns a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder. The tire mechanic noticed rust in the wheel weld on the lower bracket due to fuel leaking from the vehicle. The manufacturer stated that the contact's VIN was not included in the recall for NHTSA campaign id number 07V435000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap). They also advised him to call the Consumer Affairs division in two weeks. The tire mechanic diagnosed the failure while replacing the tires. The repair would cost $1,000. The failure mileage was 68,900 and current mileage was 69,000.
