I was driving down the highway one day when my car just shut off, completely out of the blue. The steering wheel and brake pedal were both completely stiff--I could not move either of them. It was quite scary because since I couldn't steer, I couldn't pull off the road. I put my car in park, turned it off, and waited a few minutes before attempting to restart it. Sure enough, it started back up but was really weak feeling. Also, the VDC and slip lights both stayed on after this happened. It happened two more times before I could get it home. It was parked for about two months before my neighbor (best neighbor ever) started working on it to figure it out. He figured out that it was a faulty camshaft sensor that was sending my car into "safe mode." After replacing it the VDC and SLIP lights went away and my car hasn't stalled.

It's clear to me that the dealer is responsible for the chain of problems that have occurred with my Pathfinder since I have taken on January 2 ,20014 for a EMC recall. San Juan Nissan After they performed the recall I left the dealer and drove home. Next day at night I drove down the street to meet a couple of friends, as driving back my car totally shut off while driving. Back to the dealer to tell me that my battery was oxidated and needed change. As leaving the dealer lot, after changing the battery, the VDC light went on, together with engine light, Gary Linendoll told its fine. Next day the light continued on, I go back to the dealer, they tell me it is all fine. Do not worry about engine lights. As I left the lot, the Slip sign goes on, I called again, to get a message that they are all busy with no technicians available. I make an appointment with Lisa for Friday 2:15 but they called me to say that I need to call, left as message on my phone, to make an appointment, not honoring the one I had made by phone with Lisa. I didn't drive this weekend. Monday 1/13/14 coming back from work I had to stop because the Slip sign was on again and with no acceleration. After diagnosing my car they want me to change the catalytic converter. $1500 I feel it was their mistake, as before I went to the dealer my car was running great, no issues whatsoever. After they changed the EMC as stated above, my car shut down, which never had occurred before and then all these problems occurred. I had just done my smog test with no problems. If I knew that by taking my car to perform a recall my car would come back with a list of problems, I would not go thru with the recall. I believe customers need to be aware that the ECM change makes other parts to fail. After researching I found out that a reimbursement from Nissan has been a solution. The Manager gave me a discount but I cannot afford to be responsible for a chain of reactions that I was unaware of the possibility. The dealer should have made me aware of this possibility. I need a solution ASAP as I am a single mother

I really dont know what to make of this , the car has been parked now for close to 2 weeks. Sometimes it starts at first crank in the morning but who knows what could happen i or 2 miles down the road.

The car engine shut down with steering and brakes becoming stiff. I safely pulled over and waited for few minutes and started the engine again.
