So I am now thrown in with all the other people who discovered a problem with the radiator assembly AFTER the extended warranty period that NISSAN not so generously gave out. Wait, they did not give it out freely in the interest of consumer relations as their website says, but only because of a class action lawsuit that forced them to.
My Regional Claims Specialist, who apparently exists but feels it is not necessary to contact us when the decision is made but contacts the dealership where my car is sitting inoperable for 2 weeks!, says that the problem exists in a small percentage of vehicles. Then why doesn't NISSAN do the right thing and recall the vehicles? If it is so bad for there to be a class action lawsuit then I would think it would warrant a recall. And the court took this as a settlement? So now we are let down by NISSAN and some judge who saw the money part and not the safety issue. Sad, very sad.
Safe to say that we, and anyone I can tell will NEVER, NEVER, buy a NISSAN again.

While driving along I lost power.
Pulled over and opened the bonnet to find steam.
The outlet from the neck of the header tank on the radiator had snapped and as this is not a pressurised cap, had pumped out all of my radiator water.
Resulted in a cooked motor and turbo.
I had to replace the motor, the turbo charger, the radiator and the header tank.
I have added a low water sensor to the header tank now to hopefully eliminate this problem.
Apparently it is a known failing in the Nissan. The plastic over time becomes brittle and lets go.
If it is known - why doesn't Nissan let us know and for that matter - why isn't it subject to a recall and a fix under warranty ?
