Service engine soon light came on. Fuel gauge is not registering properly. Filled tank, gauge does not register full tank. Will run out of gas if gauge not registering properly. It occurs every time gas is put in car ses light comes on and gauge doesn't register full. Dealer was going to replace fuel level sending unit but we elected not to replace because of cost. Called Nissan - other 2006 Pathfinders qualify for replacement under recall but they say my VIN does not fall under current recall.

2006 Nissan Pathfinder. Fuel gauge fluctuates dramatically and intermittently after filling tank up with gas and check engine light comes on and off intermittently when fuel gauge acts up. This happens every time the tank is filled with gas. The gauge will move anywhere between empty, with the gas light coming on, to full. Wife and daughter thought they had a fuel leak and pulled onto emergency shoulder on busy interstate at rush hour because the fuel gauge dropped to 1/4 tank within a few miles of filling up. I called Nissan and they said the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder was recalled for this reason, but I was told my VIN did not qualify so they will not fix the problem and the vehicle is out of warranty due to mileage.

I have a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. It has been diagnosed by a Nissan dealer with a defective fuel level sensor. This same issue has triggered a recall for 2005 and 2006 vehicles manufactured within three months of my manufacturer date yet has not been expanded to include all of the 2006 model year. This is an existing issue that should be included in the current recall. This could result in accidents and injuries as vehicles can unexpectedly run out of gas and become uncontrollable on highways or other dangerous scenarios. I contacted Nissan and asked them to review this issue and include the entire 2006 model year but was told that it would not be at this time.

My wife [xxx] purchased our Nissan Pathfinder 2006, her father [xxx] cosigned for her. We had a 36,000 mile warranty on this vehicle. At 40K the fuel gauge stopped working in late 2008, I took it back to benson Nissan in easley SC where we purchased the vehicle from new, they told us that it was the fuel sensor inside the tank and would cost us $700 to fix, and would not take care of it, as the warranty had expired and there was no recall on it. I talked to the Consumer Affairs dept at Nissan and they said they could do nothing to fix the problem. When I heard that there was a recall on this, I quickly called them again several weeks ago, after giving my VIN # to them they got back with me and told me that the recall did not cover my vehicle!...I argued to no avail....I have ran out of gas numerous times on the highway, and I keep the milage written down over my visor to try and keep up with it. Sometimes it will show I have gas when I don't, and it has become to dangerous for my wife to drive it so I am forced to drive it all the time. It is a concern and an inconvienience. I hope that you can do something. I purchased a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder off the showroom floor at my local Nissan dealership in July 2006. In August of 2006, the fuel pump assembly had to be replaced. In 2007, the fuel level unit had to be replaced. In 2009, the fuel module had to be replaced. Now, the transmission problems have begun. The dealer refuses to repair even though they are aware of numerous complaints from Pathfinder owners. I am out of money and patience with this vehicle. Nissan should issue a recall.

2006 Nissan Pathfinder fuel level sensor has been diagnosed as having failed. Nissan has a recall on some 2006 Pathfinders' fuel level sensor, but my VIN is not on the list. Having a vehicle with a faulty fuel level sensor is a safety hazard in that one could run out of fuel and cause an accident if the fuel gauge is reading that there is fuel in the tank. Every Nissan Pathfinder with this problem should be fixed by Nissan no matter the VIN. There are many other Pathfinder owners who have experienced this same issue according to edmund's town talk and autoforums classifieds 1000.

Fuel gauge does not register or erratic. This is a known issue with Nissan. NHTSA campaign #10V-075 to include Nissan/Pathfinder/2006 for this specific problem. Yet, Nissan dealer continue to refuse to make repair on a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder with this specific problem because "VIN number not part of recall".

Defective fuel tank sending unit failure occurs every day fuel gauge would have false readings having either no gas nor accurate readings of fuel could cause engine stall therefore a crash. I took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that it was not covered under the warranty. In March of 2010 my wife heard about the recall campaign regarding faulty fuel-sending units in 2006 Pathfinders. When I took the vehicle to the dealer again I was told my vehicle was not part of the recall. I called Nissan Consumer Affairs in October and again in April and no assistance was offered. I was told however that another recall campaign could take place, but at this time there was nothing they would do to cover the repair. The service manager at the dealer informed me that the unit on my vehicle was caused by the same problem the other units involved in the recall had suffered from. I explained this to Nissan but to no avail. I am writing this in hopes that there is any information you can offer me to encourage Nissan to fix this problem. The fuel gauge in my 06 Nissan Pathfinder is failing. It has been doing so since last November. Sometimes the gauge drops to "E" no matter how much gas is in it and sometimes it reads there is more gas than there actually is. The service engine light remains lit since the first occurrence. According to the web, the 06 Pathfinders built from Jan through March have already been recalled. Mine was built in may and the service manager at harrisonburg, va Nissan advises I am not eligible for the recall. It is more than obvious to me that my Pathfinder, built two months later than the current recalled ones, is having the same exact issue and should also be recalled. I have 3 small children and am very concerned about being on the highway and possibly running out of gas. I carry a full gas can with me, however I do not think this is a safe practice. This is the sixth Nissan I have owned since becoming a driver. I have always been more than satisfied with the product. This experience has been quite a disappointment. I am re-evaluating my thoughts on Nissan. Please help me.

2006 Pathfinder fuel cell sensor stop working one month after purchase. Vehicle warranty cover was 85 miles over vehicle warranty. Manufacture dealer quoted me repair cost of $600 see on the web, other owner of 2006 Nissan Pathfinder have the same complaint. Vehicle display empty gas tank when full. Display half tank, 1/4, 3/4. driver never knows what amount of gas is in the gas tank. Auto could run out of fuel in heavy traffic.

Fuel gauge does not register correct amount of fuel. When I fill the tank it will show empty or some other incorrect amount. Also, the dte display is flashing solid lines and the check engine light is on. After driving the gauge sometimes starts to work properly but it always malfunctions at some point. Check engine light goes out sometimes, but comes back on when fuel level gets low.
