I have a Nissan Pathfinder with a fuel sensor problem. However, since the Nissan Pathfinder was built in April 2006 it is not included in the Nissan fuel sensor recall (even know it is the same issue as Pathfinders built in March 2006 that are included in the recall. Nissan won't do anything for me. I have called and complained but to no avail. Can the recall be expanded, this is the vehicle for my wife and kids. If you look on the following website forum X.nissanhelp.com/forums/Nissan-news/14408-Nissan-fuel-gauge-recall.html you will note that their are several other vehicles that have the issue that are not be handled. Please help.

My 2006 Nissan Pathfinder recently began displaying the "service engine soon" light in response to both the fuel gauge and the electronic dte fuel gauge which have failed. As a result, it is difficult to determine how much fuel is currently in the vehicle at any given time.

Fuel sending sensor fails to register properly. Appears to be a known problem having done a google search. Gas gauge reads full then empty. Never sure how much fuel is in the vehicle. Not sure if there's a possibility the vehicle will think it's out of fuel at any given time. What if I'm driving down the road and the vehicle thinks there's no fuel" Nissan dealer says oh well. They want any where from $500 to a $1000 to fix, then there's not guarantee it will fix the problem" this is not right.

2006 Nissan Pathfinder - in August the fuel gauge stops working I have to replace the fuel pump. In December the radiator coolant and transmission fluid mix and I have to replace radiator and flush transmission fluid. In January the ipmd module goes out, car goes completely dead on freeway and almost causes an accident. In February ses light goes on again this time catalytic converter goes bad. February 24 coolant and transmission fluid mixing again taking to shop tomorrow. Please look into the issues, if you search the internet you will discover this is not an isolated incident. Please help. I'm sure I will be posting again next month.

There are a lot of complaints on Nissan Pathfinder forum, all with similar/identical problem. Starting in Dec. 2009, gas gauge on 2006 Nissan Pathfinder works intermittently/ erratically. Check engine light came on soon after. Autozone checked obd II, and found fuel sensor error (P0463). There are multiple complaints on Nissan Pathfinder forum, all with similar/identical problem. Just adding my name to the list requesting Nissan address this potential safety problem unless you keep track of mileage, and know mpg, you run risk of running out of gas. Also noted that error code on obd II may cause failure of emissions/safety check. Can't license car!

2006 Nissan Pathfinder, reading posts it seems as though my fuel sensor is bad in my vehicle. Fill tank and it still registers a half a tank, this seems to be an ongoing issue with Nissan and believe they have installed a faulty part that keeps on failing in all the vehicles they are installed in. From what I understand this does not effect the operation of the car. I believe Nissan needs to provide a recall on these Nissan that this part was installed and forgo any cost to the consumer.

I own a 2006 Pathfinder that I purchased new from the dealership. My issue began with a fill up when I had 1/3 of a tank of gas and found that the needle did not move until the following day. When it did finally register, the service engine light came on. The following week I had 1/4 of a tank of gas and went to fill up. After filling up my gas tank, I turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. After driving a couple miles, the needle dropped to empty and the check engine light came on. I had a diagnostic done and it read that there is an issue with the fuel level sensor. I called the dealer and was told that the fuel sensor was not covered under warranty and there are no recalls for this problem. I was amazed there is no action from Nissan considering the multitude of entries I discovered on the internet with the exact problem. It appears that this is an ongoing issue with models ranging from 2005-2007. This repair is estimated to cost upwards of $700 from the dealer. This safety issue makes me very uncomfortable to drive any distance and is due to a faulty part that Nissan should remedy at no cost to the vehicle owner. The Consumer Affairs department also informed me there are no recalls for this problem and I will have to let an authorized Nissan center diagnose and correct the problem and only gave me a case number to refer to if I was not satisfied.

I have a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder that just out of the blue, the service engine just came on. I have read in the internet, and there are a lot of complaints about this subject. We are talking about gasoline, a very flammable and explosive liquid, combine that with a defective electrical fuel sensor and we are talking fire or worst. Nissan is not doing anything about this, except telling people to replace the sensor. My Nissan just went over 39, 000 miles, how convenient, out of warranty. I just hope nobody is waiting for something bad happens before this issue is resolved. Thanks

The fuel level indicator does not work on my car. I have no way of knowing when my car is low on fuel other than to keep a running tab on how many miles I have driven since the last fill up of fuel. Recently I was driving and my car totally shut off in the middle of the street. I lost my power steering and could not pull over. Several cars almost ran directly into my rear as it happened so suddenly. I came to find out that the reason my car stopped was that I was out of gas and had no idea that my fuel was low (due to the fact that the fuel level indicator does not work). My husband has the exact same model vehicle as I do and the same thing happened to him. He had no idea that he was low on fuel and his car cut off in the middle of an extremely busy major atlanta expressway. He had to manually steer his vehicle off of the road and avoid being smashed into by other vehicles traveling at well over 65 mph. Since discovering this we both try to keep track of how many miles we've driven since filling up but we never know accurately how many miles we can get per fill up. I've been doing research and have found dozens upon dozens of people with the same problem with their Nissan Pathfinders. Even the repair facility we tried to take it to was aware of this problem as they have people with the same problem almost weekly. I fear that I could get into a serious accident due to the fact that I have no idea that I am low on fuel. I truly believe that a manufacturer recall is in order and the Nissan Corp is putting it's consumers in harms way by refusing to have this repaired free of charge.

2006 Nissan Pathfinder le gas gauge read 1/4 tank on my way to work with baby in car, ran out of gas when I thought I had 1/4 tank. Brought it to dealership they said they replaced the fuel level sensor. At a red light last night with 1/2 tank (according to gauge) all of the sudden gas low level light flashes and dte reads---- apparently dealership did not do what they said they did or problem lies elsewhere. There are thousands of other Nissan owners with this same problem. There needs to be a recall issued plain and simple!

My 2006 Pathfinder with 49K miles, the gas gauge went to completely empty. The dte read ------ after I filled the gas tank completly.then my service engine light came on. The gas gauge after about 10 miles moved up to 1/2 tank, but service light is still on. Did some research and found service bulletin ntb07-069A, which seems to indicate this is a real problem with several models, including xterra's. I went to autozone and pulled the code PO463 which confirmed the fuel sending unit is the issue. Now trying to find out why they apparently won't cover it.

"I had 1/4 of a tank of gas on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder and went to fill up. After filling up my gas tank, I turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. After driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. I went directly to the dealer and was told that it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was no longer covered after 30K miles. After returning home and doing research, I went online to X.nissanhelp.com after performing a search, I came across many others who have experienced the same problem. Apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. A similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger(I have to young kids). It seems that something in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. There is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 3 yrs and with around 57K. If this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, frontiers, and Pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer!! why wait for accidents and possible deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. Paid $300 for the repairs."
