Four years ago I had problems with my 2006 Pathfinder stalling while driving, so I took it too a dealership. They told me it was a problem in my tank. To make it short. I spent over a $1000 dollars to get it fixed. It sound like recall id# 10V07500 Pathfinder fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank recall ' id# 19956. I have the dealers name and number. I cant remember the date. Read more: www.automotive.com/2006/49/Nissan/Pathfinder/recalls/19956.html#ixzz1N6mocpdi.

And cuasing the vehicle to stall and cause a dangerous situations on the road or to others safty. This is a known issues on several vehicles and this will be my second one. Code on diagnostics P0463. Nissan has several technical bulletins on this matter as well.

Our Nissan Pathfinder 2006, fuel level indication fluctuates so that we don't know the true fuel remaining. By filling the gas tank and recording the mileage, we can monitor distance traveled to estimate when the tank will be empty. We also have a service light indication, which I had read by my local mechanic, code # P0463, which says its a "fuel level sensor a circuit high input." He says I need to have my fuel tank removed to replace the sending unit located on top of the fuel tank. The dealer wants to charge me $90 for diagnostics, and then it will cost $150 for parts and $500 in labor, total bill $740. I plan to do it myself, parts on line for $98.95, to save $650. I just hope I don't blow-up myself and our house while trying to repair this issue. Also, car will not pass inspection until service light is extinguished (due by end of November). VIN # [xxx] it has 57,000 miles. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

When I took my car into pep boys for a service engine light and the gas level would not alway work correctly. They pulled up the recall and told me to take my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder VIN# [xxx] for repair. Nissan replaced the fuel sensor but said that only certain batches are included in the recall. This should be included in the recall and I am asking for it to be included in the recall and would like to get my $466.08 refunded back to me. When I went onto the forum on the year and a lot more people have this same problem and are not getting it covered under the recall and I am requesting an investigation into this to expand the recall and reimburse my money to me for this. 2006 Nissan Pathfinder - fuel gauge all of sudden goes to empty even when take is full and then stays there. There is a recall out there for this issue but VIN number not part of current recall. Did some research on the internet and have found that this is a common issue amongst other Pathfinder owners as well. Want to know why this is not extended beyond current VIN numbers as this is a huge safety issue as almost ran out of gas on the interstate.

I own a 06 Nissan Pathfinder. There is a fuel sensor recall on the 06 Pathfinders. This sensor estimates how much gas you have left in the tank. Approximately at 1/2 tank, the fuel level gauge show the fuel on empty. For some reason my Pathfinder is not covered under the recall. I was told by Nissan that not all 06 Pathfinders were part of the recall even though I am having the same problem. Nissan finally said that my extended warranty (that I paid for) would cover the sensor. My out of pocket expense would be a $50 deductible. I asked how many other Pathfinders were made with the same batch of fuel sensors/ is anyone else having trouble or am I the only one. They are not able to give me any information besides the day my car was made - Aug 29, 2006.

I own a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder, bought it to my dealer (countyline Nissan --ct) to replace a recall fuel tank that may send incorrect reading to the instrumental panel fuel gauge. After 3 visits in one week to this dealer to correct this problem; tonight I am now looking at a 4th visit because today my fuel indicator dropped from a quarter tank to empty with seconds while on the highway. I have seen fill the tank, but still showing empty. I am soooooo frustrated, because, I have to take another day off to fix this problem. I feel hopeless because I seem T have no recourse, I am stuck at going to a dealership that offers no recourse, even though it is obvious that they are not doing something right, I am stuck in a cycle with not even a loner car, until they figure out the problem. I feel unsafe driving this vehicle and I do not know what else to do.

I own a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. I took the car in for maintenance a few weeks ago and started to notice that the fuel gauge did not work. Even if my tank is fuel, it says I only have a quarter of a tank. Last Friday I filled up my tank and the gas light came on right after I filled it up. I called Nissan and they told me it was ok to drive on and that I need to drive it down to 1/2 or. 1/4 tank otherwise they couldn't do anything about it. I have a one year old baby that I have to drive to doctor appointments. I live on the outskirts of the city and always take the freeway to get around. Knowing that my car can stall and shut down is not comforting to me. At this point not sure what to do or who to call. I have been reluctant to drive much so I still cannot bring my car in until the gas gauge drops lower. But I don't really know how much gas I really have since that gauge doesn't even work.

Pathfinder

  • 58,000 miles
In November 2008 I purchased my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder SE from a private owner. There were approximately 42,000 miles on the vehicle. After having it inspected, I was told it was in great shape and for 1 year I drove it with no significant problems. In November 2009, the gas gague began registering empty when it was on a quarter tank. The dealer replaced the fuel sensor ($400) which resolved the problem. I later found out that there was a recall on the same make/model and for that exact problem just 3 monthes after I had mine repaired, but because my VIN# was not on the recall list, I was told my money would not be refunded. Not long after this incident with 58,000 miles on my vehicle, I started having transmission problems, I was told by the dealership that even though my transmission is covered up to 60,000 miles, because the problem originated from a faulty seal on my radiator (only covered until 36,000 miles) that leaked antifreeze into my transmission, my transmission repairs were my responsibility. I call Nissan Corp. To report the problem and the representative informed me that Nissan has received multiple complaint calls form owners having the same problem with the same vehicle. She advised me to voice my concerns to you in hopes that you could reslove the matter.

About one year ago my fuel gauge bottomed out after filling the tank. Since then it has been erratic with the fuel reading. We continued to deal with it until recently. My wife was traveling on the highway and the vehicle just died. She managed to pull off the road and the car restarted. This continued several more times until she returned home. Now the car won't start at all. The code pulled from it is P0463. I understand this is a known issue with Nissan.

I own a 2006 Pathfinder and based on research done online, it's appalling to see how many folks have the same problem and Nissan has not recalled the vehicle. I filled up my tank on 6/19, but fuel gauge didn't move from half tank. The check engine light soon came on and stayed on. After discussing with the dealer, it's going to cost about $600 to fix this well known and documented problem on the Pathfinders, xterras and frontiers. The issue is a fuel sender sensor that can reduce or stop gas from flowing into the engine. This is a part failure that needs to be corrected by Nissan before anyone is injured or results in death due to vehicle stopping in the middle of the freeway. To read that most folks are not fixing the problem due to the financial is just as freighting, but I'm in total agreement. Why should anyone have to pay for a known and defective part on a vehicle that is 3 years old with little over 40K miles. This issue has been around for years, going back to 2000. Nissan finally recalled the 2000 through 2004 models. They need to do the right thing and recall the 2005 through 2009 models. In this site alone there are over 45 complaints on the 2006 Pathfinder. That is on 2006 model year alone. Searching through other forums, the complaints litter web pages on the same problem across the nation. Someone offered a solution to pull the negative wire from the battery which would reset the check engine light and turn it off. This does not fix the problem, it prolongs it and gives a false sense of security.

2005 to 2008 Nissan Pathfinder many, many, owners are have the same problem with the fuel sending unit/sensor going bad between 35K to 45K after the warranty expires, which must be a deficit and should be a recall because it could lead to a bigger problem that will possibly stop the fuel pump and cause the vehicle to stop without warning that happen with the Nissan xerra SUV which was a recall in 2000 to 2004 models. The repair for this fuel sending unit cost approximately $600 dollar to repair and their is no grantee that it will not happen again or if its a upgrade.

Nissan Pathfinder gas gauge doesn't work and service engine light stays on. The problem is pervasive and the dealers are charging approx $500 for repairs. Nissan has not issued a recall on this defect. Running out of gas on the highway is a safety concern and an injury or fatality will result if it has not already.

The fuel sensor on Pathfinders does not work and does not read the fuel level after fill up and causes the service engine soon light to come on. This is a huge problem and issue for many Nissan Pathfinder owners. We bought our car brand new 2 years ago and don't think we should have to pay over $600 to fix this, there should be a recall and immediate fix by Nissan!!!

On several occasions over the past two weeks, my service engine light has appeared and my fuel gage was either stuck or not worry correctly during this period. I took the vehicle in to have the code read and the response was "fuel level sensor circuit high input". upon further research on the internet, this appears to be a very common Nissan consumers are experiencing and there's an actual service bulletin on this item (ntb07-069A). Again, based on the number of complaints I see on this item, it appears to be a manufacturer's defect and would like to recommend as a 'recall item'. thank you, terrance baker
