It is very disappointing that the consumer is not protected for known problems. Although there were no injuries, individuals were at risk as the car stopped working several times: in the intersection of main streets, on the bridges and put in peril the passengers.

The cost to repair is ridiculous and leaves the consumer with no option as without a repair the car is worthless. This forces the consumer to pay for something they no longer believe in; there are limited if any options.

I bought this car used; in its 5th year; at that point the problems with Nissan transmissions may have been just beginning to be evident/experienced and so there was no or limited information. I have no warranty or offers since I am not the original purchaser of the vehicle and did not buy it from a Nissan dealer.

I feel cheated by an industry and company that does not stand behind its products, and demonstrates a lack of integrity and honesty. I wanted to be a proud owner, now I feel like a sucker.

I've had my 2006 Pathfinder for one month and it is now in the shop for the second time due to transmission not working. The first time was to get my transmission flushed due to coolant getting into the transmission from the radiator (a known problem with 2006 Pathfinders). It worked great for about two weeks and then one day I felt my vehicle acting a little jerky. It then went from being jerky to shaking when shifting and finally after waiting at a stop light and trying to accelerate the vehicle wouldn't shift to first gear. This happened in about 5 minutes without any other warning.

I now have to replace my transmission!! Very disappointed in Nissan for knowing of this problem, but not doing anything about it. I would be super careful when buying Nissan vehicles between year ranges 2005 to 2010.

So, I had mentioned over the years that my transmission seemed to slip at times and at others, stick. But, Nissan could never replicate the issue so it was non-issue.

Then, when this finally happened, I was SOL as the warranty was gone. I have a mechanic who I trust wholeheartedly and that is who I had it towed to. He had such a problem securing a new transmission that my car was with him for almost a month. No one rebuilds them and Nissan kept not returning his calls as it turned out that they were the only ones we could get a new transmission from.

HERE IS THE RUB: it is only warrantied for 12 months and it is a NISSAN transmission!!! They wouldn't budge on this. Here is the other aspect: they wouldn't even consider helping us or looking at our situation unless we brought the vehicle to them so that they could inspect it! WTF!! It was not drive-able and we were supposed to pay their repair rates on top of another towing bill? I don't think so!
