It looks like we have another issue with our 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. Last month the fuel gauge started going haywire and the service engine light illuminated. We are filling the tank up constantly as we don't know what the actual fuel level is and don't want to run out of gas. We were using the trip mileage to give us a rough idea on fuel level until last week it decided to display " - - - - - - -" which just flashes now.
This is without a doubt the worst experience I've had with a manufacturer and their product. We paid over $4000 to have the transmission rebuilt due to the infamous Coolant/transmission fluid contamination issue last year which Nissan is leaving consumers high and dry. I used to think Nissan was a reputable company but now I think completely otherwise.
I've read the horror stories and direct anyone who's even considering a Nissan to look at the complaints on Carcomplaints.com for 2007 Nissan Pathfinder and see how they treat their consumers. I hope Nissan is forced to do a recall on this fuel sensor as it too is a safety issue like the Coolant/Transmission failure which ODI (Office of Defect Investigations) has been investigating since June of 2012 and we are now approaching June of 2015 with more complaints just piling up.
I'm sure Nissan would love to extend the warranty just short of the mileage in which failure occurs just as it did with that issue as it's the most cost effective way to cut free of their defective products! Nissan you are a clear example of what is wrong with big business!

This issue torques me off bad. While vehicle was still in their 3yr/36k warranty, I brought my truck in for an intermittent issue where my fuel gage would drop to empty even though I knew I had almost a full tank. When I looked online, it turned out that the Nissan Altima and the Nissan xterra ALREADY had a recall on the fuel tank sensor. I figured that Nissan would man up and fix this known issue on this vehicle. I was wrong.
The day I brought it in to my Nissan dealer, the problem was not evident and the tank showed 3/4 tank. The Sandy Sansing Dealership (Pensacola, FL) state that there was no record of my visit. Then the problem was constant, at 38k miles ... just outta warranty. After crabbing up a storm, I finally get a call from Nissan in TN, stating that while they couldn't repair my vehicle for free they were willing to give me a $250 repair certificate. I never was sent one.
This cemented my commitment to NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN.
Then, as a kick in the nads, Nissan finally admitted the issue; however if your vehicle had over 90k miles they wouldn't fix it. WTF, either it has the issue or it doesn't. Nissan should have to pay me for the poor gas mileage received when being forced to keep my tank full, because their gauge was unreliable. Long story short, I never got any recourse for this known problem. Nissan is unethical, and will never have an opportunity to rip me off again.

My gauge started misreading..showing empty when it was full and visa versa. Then check engine light comes on and now will not pass emissions. Nissan did a recall on certain models, and told me that since our problem started happening after the mileage stated on the "selected" recall of 72,000 miles, we were SOL...

Well I was entering a complaint about me also having my radiator leak coolant into my transmission and came upon the common problem of people having to replace the fuel sensor... I paid my veh off several months ago.. I have high mileage because I travel a lot.. All of a sudden my check engine lights on and my gas gauge reads empty most of the time.. Usually when I get just under a half a tank it happens... I loved my veh so much and was so proud of paying it off. and I really thought if the only problem I had was the sensor, maybe I was doing good.. but the sensor is almost 300.00 to replace and now the problem with the radiator and tranny being 5k... I have sent emails to every news station i know.. I am also a dj on a local station.. Let me tell you.. I'm pissed.. Nissan could fix these problems.. but hey are blowing people off instead.. Ive had enough... I am currently seeking the law for help.... Not just because of my issue, but because of everything I've read of what Nissan has done to all of us... Freedom of Speech is a powerful thing and I can tell you any person I know will never purchase a Nissan again or ever.. Such a disappointment.. If they could have just wanted us about the radiator that would have saved many of us thousands of dollars and now to find out they need to recall the fuel sensor... Its just killing me that they are doing this to consumers... Please respond to me if you know anyone who already started some type of class action against Nissan because I will jump on board.. And I will see it to the end.

In April of 2010 I was in need of a reliable vehicle, due to my 10 year old son being diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor, for multiple, long trips to receive his radiation and chemo treatments. I looked at many vehicles and finally decided on the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder that had 33,000 miles on it. I had always heard that Nissan vehicles were very dependable and well built.
At around 72,000 miles, 3 days before leaving to take my children on a much needed get away, the gas hand stopped working and the check engine light came on. I took it to the parts store and they hooked up my Pathfinder and said that the code it was the fuel sending unit.
I looked on the Nissan website for a recall on this and there wasn't one. I have been driving my vehicle for almost 2 years with the gas hand on E and the light on and have to figure how many miles I can go by how many gallons of gas I have added to the tank!!!! It's a bunch of BS! I have made many long trips with my child and hoped that the fuel pump or anything else didn't decide to quit while we were on our way!
While car shopping last week(NOT FOR A NISSAN) I was told by a salesman that I should go down the road to the Nissan dealership and ask about a recall or warranty on the fuel sending unit. So I did and discovered that there was a warranty on this but only up to 75,000 miles. I am now at 94,000. I bought my Pathfinder on Nissans reputation of safety and reliability. I have learned of other (more severe and costly) issues that may happen with the vehicle that I chose to purchase. I am no longer happy with my vehicle because of the negligence of Nissan to stand behind their vehicles and fix multiple problems that they know are going to happen!
I no longer drive my vehicle with the confidence that Nissan stands behind their quality. I drive my vehicle with the number to a wrecker service on speed dial!!

Ok so not only did I have the radiator and transmission problem, also the fuel sending unit went out on the pathfinder. I also got a letter in the mail for a WARRANTY EXTENSION TO 72MONTHS OR 72,000MILES, NOT A RECALL LIKE NISSAN SHOULD HAVE DONE! They admitted there was a problem with it but since my pathfinder has 109,000 miles when it failed it is now my problem!! WOW Nissan you suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never will buy another Nissan

50,000 miles and 3 years old and already needs a new gas sensor. Just filled the tank and the gas gauge bottemed out. Empty light came on. Turned of engine and then restarted to find the Check engine light on. Brought it to Nissan (was just there for a timing chain problem) and they said the fuel sensor was $385 + tax to replace and it needed to be done. I left very upset and refused to let them touch it since it's no longer under warranty.

I had put gas in my car, and the fuel hand wouldn't move. Then the mileage screen showed ---------- across it. I drove a few blocks more, then the "service engine soon" light came on. At first I thought I had came across some bad gas. I took the car to AutoZone to get a reading on the "service engine soon" light. That's when the technician hooked something up under my dashboard and told me my fuel sensor was bad. I took it to the shop and was told it would cost me $529 to get it fixed. This is the same Nissan Pathfinder that had the radiator fluid leaking into the transmission. Based on what I've been reading, Nissan knew about these issues. I hate this company and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
