Pathfinder

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,679 miles

In 2009, we purchased a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder with less than 30,000 miles from Parkway Nissan in Dover, Ohio. It was in great shape and we loved that vehicle. It has been well taken care of and it only has a little over 80,000 miles on it currently. We had planned on purchasing a new Nissan until this incident with Nissan Corp.

I took it in for an oil change and to have all the fluids checked on 6-12-18 prior to going on vacation. On our way to vacation, my son-in-law said he thought the transmission was slipping; he said he'd check it when we reached our destination. Well, that wasn't possible as there's no way to check the transmission fluid without a special wrench. As soon as we got home, I checked my service print out and found that the transmission fluid was the only thing not checked.

I called Parkway, told them how the car was acting & they told me to bring it down. I asked why it hadn't been checked when it was in for service and was told that "Nissan doesn't even recommend checking the transmission fluid until 100,000 miles, but we can check it for you". I took it in and that's when I found out that my transmission was shot because the transmission fluid had been contaminated by engine coolant.

I have called Nissan and been told that they are choosing not to do anything to help us with this repair, even after I offered to pay half ($2500) of the cost for this repair. This is a Nissan problem that they've obviously known about for quite a while and have swept it under the carpet. Our complaint is NOT with Parkway, they have always been great to us.

We loved this car, but after the inconsiderate treatment from Nissan--NO MORE NISSANS FOR US!!!

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

Pathfinder 4.0V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 111,103 miles

I have a 2007 Nissian Pathfinder and have had problems with the transmission going out. It will cost me more to fix it along with replacing the radiator than the car is worth and I still have a car payment. I love the ride of this car but unfortunately I can not find a way of repairing the transmission for under $5000

Pathfinder SE V6

  • Automatic transmission

Car was slowing down before the car actually completely failed! Transmission was gone even though Nissan admitted to a manufacturer problem on the gaskets that let coolant into the transmission and made the transmission fail. Even when they admitted to that defect they still didn't want to cover the damage. The car was under the mileage and still under the 100,000 mileage limit for coverage and still they did not want to pay one cent, all was out of my pocket!!!!!!!

Pathfinder LE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 79,300 miles

Nissan of New Rochelle has been anything but helpful in assisting in the repair of my vehicle. My vehicle has been at the dealership for two weeks with no definitive answer as to when my vehicle will be ready. Corporate Nissan has not been of any help either. Dealership is very deceptive, does not return my calls and has given several days my vehicle would be ready all of which they did not meet.

This is my third Nissan and due to these circumstances there will not be a fourth.
