On my 2008 Nissan Pathfinder, which is only 8 years old, I have repaired my transmission due to an atf contamination via the cooling system around 95,000 miles. I purchased the vehicle at 90,000 miles used. This affected my speed control and all related systems.the radiator was replaced also due to the contamination. This has affected my cooling and heating system and all related systems.this cost my extended warranty company around $2,900+ (glad I was smart enough to purchase this warranty), however it cost me my deductible of $200. On February 12, 2016 I dropped my Nissan off for a follow-up repair to replace the entire timing chain assembly after going in for a simple alignment earlier (which was a waste of money because you have to purchase a camper kit in order for your alignment to be 100%, $249 out-of-pocket). This caused me to have to buy a brand new set of tires out-of-pocket which came with a free alignment as a special, otherwise I would've re-payed for another alignment. Headquarters Nissan of columbus, ga never informed me of the timing chain issues with these SUVS! this resulted in performance issues. Again my extended warranty will pay around $1,800 to Nissan for the repairs and me a $200 deductible. I have run out of gas in the middle of traffic on the highway in atlanta, ga during rush hour before because my gas gauge or indicator or something doesn't read or is inaccurate. I also hear noise from the tires or something when I roll over speed bumps, accelerate or bank left or right with bad, hard steering. The cooling and heating system has not blown air at times and sometimes I have to depress the gas petal while idling to heat up air that has gone cold. When the A/C does this I turn off the A/C and let the windows down, pressing the gas petal does not work. Nissan says they can't find a problem with this system when diagnosing vehicle?!

My 2008 Pathfinder's check engine light came on while my fuel gauge is showing empty when I would fill up constantly, the mileage on the vehicle was approx. 105,000. I was informed that it was my fuel level sensor that needed replaced, Nissan North America informs me my VIN isn't covered in the NHTSA reference #10V075000 recall of the fuel level sensor that began March 2010, I purchased my vehicle used after the recall was initiated. Due to the fuel level sensor needing replaced ($600), I was not able to pass my emissions test in co ($25), and am not able to register my vehicle ($200). So if I have to pay for my own repairs I will have to replace a part that Nissan is aware has an issue, get a second emissions test and pay any late fees on top of my annual registration fee. I believe that if Nissan is aware or this issue they should repair my vehicle at no cost to me and/or if a recall was initiated then there needs to be more explanation as to why my VIN is not included.

This is a known defect to both Nissan and the NHTSA...and it should be repaired before there is a fatality in my family

This is a problem which Nissan North America is aware of however failing to correct on many vehicles. Failure of the fuel gauge sending unit has many possible severe symptoms including, but not limited to: 1) failure of the fuel gauge to properly indicate levels of fuel, 2) failure of the fuel gauge in its entirety and/or 3) failure of the sending unit to properly function while in vehicles are in use potentially causing affected vehicles to shut down while in motion. Also a know problem with radiator leaking into automatic transmission which resulted in class action lawsuit against Nissan North America. Settlement was reached in which Nissan offers to pay for any and all repairs only if malfunction occurs, however when malfunction occurs it can be a significant safety issue affecting the performance of the impacted vehicle.

Fuel gauge does not register correctly, have no way of knowing how much fuel in vehicle, causes sensor light to show up, and car will not pass inspection, there was a recall on this, but as others have stated mine wasn't one of them. Also had problem with transmission on this car, which again mine wasn't one of them, but we had a 100,000 mile warranty provided by the dealer on this. If really seems to me, how do they know what Nissan are defective, and what ones aren't if the problem is happening to so many of us. We had Nissan since 2000, but no longer and never again. I gave this vehicle to my son, and now he has to pay for the repair, as car will not pass inspection.
