I have a 2009 Nissan Pathfinder SE with ~90,000 miles. Recently, driver's side window made a grinding noise when I rolled it down at a fast food restaurant and then it would not roll up more than 4 inches. It was 17 degrees out and bitter cold. Had my kids in the car and had to drive like that for 25 minutes. When I got home, it took two people to get the window up - one to hold the button the whole time and the second person to grab the window with both hands and pull it up.
Took it in for service and the door panel had to be removed to make the repair and the mechanic first quoted $240. I suggested they simply take the regulator from one of the back door windows and stick it up front (as the driver's window is the only one that HAS to be able to roll down). They said that wouldn't work because the back windows used a different regulator. Then, once the part arrived, they said I needed a different part, which they'd need to order instead of the first one and this was going to cost $480! I balked and told them to put it back together as I was taking it to the dealership (where I was quoted $285 for the job). Suddenly, they said they had a "work around" and could do the job for $298. Since they had already had my car for 3 days I just let them fix it ... though they lost my business by the shady quotes.

Insanely high repair cost for annoying issue.
