heater junction fwd of firewall on pax side cracks, leaks

The Nissan original PLASTIC heater hose JUNCTION assembly on the firewall cracked and started seeping coolant, the teen driver overheated the engine enough to get her attention and she pulled over and called. I added more coolant when I got there, got it home and found the leak trail, the plastic junction fell apart while I was trying to take hoses off it.

Dorman has a METAL (aluminum with hoses) replacement for $130 while Nissan will sell you a $400 OEM PLASTIC ONE. HA!

Took me about two hours to install the Dorman after an hour of removing the old one:

Not hard if you have patience and attention to detail with some mechanical ability and basic auto tools. I am not a fast worker, but know my way around under the hood.

This is a pretty rugged 4.0 L engine as it has no head gasket failure after 2,000 miles of highway driving post repair. Most aluminum heads won't tolerate an overheat.
