Pathfinder Limited

  • CVT transmission
  • 152,757 miles

I reported this problem back in 2021 and have been waiting on a recall since. I have spoken with multiple mechanics who say they see this problem in the nissan as often as the problems with the CVT transmission. I know 100% it should be a recall as sometimes my car will shift out of park but probably 90% of the time it will not!!

Pathfinder 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 41,000 miles

Somehow I managed to purchase a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder as a certified used vehicle through a reputable dealer in Humble, Texas without knowing all the crazy things that could go wrong with it. The car generally performs as it should, but when the gear shifter got stuck in Park one day, I thought, "what the heck is this?" At first it was only intermittent, then it became a daily problem, then every time I used the car, I had to poke a pair of "kiddie" scissors into the hole next to the shifter in order to release the shifter so I could drive the car. How ridiculous! Sounds petty, but when there are only 41,000 miles on a vehicle, you don't expect problems like this to crop up. Luckily a family friend who is a mechanic took a look, gave me the part number to order (the whole shifter assembly for $296.00 on ebay), and he installed it for a few bucks and a smile. He said at a dealership, it would have run at least $500 or more JUST FOR THE PART!! And then add labor. Also, instead of tinkering with individual parts of the shifter assembly, he said don't bother, because it's not easy to tell which actual part is defective or worn out. Just replace the whole thing.

Recently the shifter has been getting stuck. Not sure why. It sounds like it wants to shift but doesn't if that makes sense. I have to now manually do the override that's next to the shift gear. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Just out of 5 year warranty and the shift won’t come out of park. Dealer is quoting me $900+ fix, really? Shouldn’t this be a recall? Seen tons of people online with the same problem, come on Nissan! Never buy another Nissan again, so very disappointed.

If you ask me, I will and have been telling everyone I know - "run away from Nisaan, as fast as you can". Bad quality product, 6 recalls so far. Air bags and multiple CVT Drive train issue.

Their dealer in Stafford is pathetic at best. Dropped the car at 7.30 am on 2/2 and called my service advisor 3 times to get an update throughout the day but she never replied. Surprise, when I went there at 5.30 (10 hours later), I was told they have not done any repair as they needed my approval. So how would I approve if service department is not even trying to contact me or answer my call.

Pathfinder V6

Consistently having trouble getting the gear out of Park. I have been stuck in traffic lines when I have put the car back in park the unable to shift out of park. This also happens from initial start up. The solution was to replace the entire gear shifter and console for $530.

I could not get the car out of Park. I was told it was a solenoid inside the shifter assembly. A big $900 fix. Has anyone else had this problem? Hard to accept a 2013 model having this issue.
