We were left stranded on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere when suddenly, without any warning the car died on us. The engine went into idle and would not engage the drive train. When in park, I was able to rev the engine but as soon as I put it in drive, pressing the gas pedal did nothing at all. We needed to tow it to a shop since after a period of time the car shut right down and we could not start it back up. Again, no warnings whatsoever prior or while this trouble was occurring.
The shop reported that the battery needed to be replaced and that all else passed the diagnostics. Over $400 later and my 180000KM Platinum warranty would not cover the cost. For a car that has so many technology wonders, and costs a fortune, you would think a simple indicator that the battery will require replacement soon would be a basic feature... Absolutely shameful and disappointing.
This is not the end of the story, I found numerous reports online that attributes the acceleration issue to a faulty brake light relay. No one mentioned this from the shop. Their is a recall for this but only for Pathfinders between 2013-2015... So, my 2016 does not qualify, but I am quite certain this is the exact same issue. Nissan has not yet acknowledged it.
