The engine will turn over but will not start. At the root of the cause was the camshaft position sensor. This particular sensor is located in the distributor housing and cannot be obtained as a separate part. In effect, the seal on the distributor cap wore down over time and allowed moisture in that resulted in the sensor malfunctioning and ultimately expired. The only solution is to buy the complete distributor housing at a parts store for around $220.00 depending on what region you are located. A good preventative measure for this not to occur again is to coat the distributor cap seal with RTV or silicone sealant to further protect the sensor from being damaged by moisture. As a further note: the vehicle would have trouble starting when there had been a substantial rainfall and/or would run rough during rainfall. This further supports the theory that moisture coming in contact with the sensor is the culprit.
