Our check engine light was coming on every month or so then turning off for several days. We drove like this for a year. The car ran great and still got the same gas mileage. The problem is we knew we needed it fixed to pass IL emission laws. Our mechanic said we had codes PO138, PO139, PO325. He really put the scare into us when he said one of the errors was a knock sensor and the top half of the engine needed to be removed $$$ to correctly fix it. (There are ways to cheat and relocate the sensor on the outside of the engine without dismantling the engine, but this mechanic and many won't do it). Our mechanic said there was a possibility that replacing the O2 sensor might fix both and it did. But he had problems with the first aftermarket sensor. He then used a Nissan part and still had a problem. He finally got it work with the second Nissan O2 sensor. Apprently the car does not like aftermarket sensors and the first Nissan part was defective?
