2004 Nissan Quest. Consumer states safety problem with the power windows and power doors the consumer stated the passenger side window would not stay closed. When the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, he was informed to fix the problem it would require replacing the motor, which would be very expensive. The consumer declined the repair. Later on, the window reverted back to its proper closing procedure and operated as it was designed. However, the driver's window would not close automatically and the consumer was forced to hold down the button manually. The door on the passenger side would not close completely. It would stop about half way. The consumer had to physically push the door closed which lasted for weeks. Then, suddenly the door began closing correctly without any attempt at repair. The sliding door on the driver's side didn't function as it should. It all started when the consumer's grandson was exiting the vehicle by pushing the open button from the inside. As he was getting out, the door reversed itself before it opened completely and began closing, hitting him and wouldn't stop as it was supposed to when meeting an object. Fortunately, he was only frightened, but not injured. The door continued to malfunction, so the consumer no longer used it anymore. The consumer referenced recall # 04V186000. However, his VIN was not included in the recall.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest. The power sliding door would open while the vehicle was in operation. Also the door would not fully close. The manufacturer was contacted, but they would not assume responsibility for any repairs made to the door mechanism. He was ineligible for a free remedy because his vehicle identification number was excluded from recall campaign id number: 04V186000(latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch). The failure mileage was 58,000 and the current was 63,000.

Passenger side sliding door fails to latch or pops open when driving and the temperature outside is below 30 degrees Fahrenheit. This vehicle has been taken back to the dealer at least 4 or 5 times so far. This renders the vehicle inoperative until the door latches shut. This is endangering our children who sit in car seats in the second row of seats in the Quest.

Purchased this vehicle 3 months ago, used. We have had nothing but problems since. The main problems are: The roof leaks, whether it's the sunroof or something else causing the leak remains to be seen. Dealer claims no leak found, but everytime it rains there is water in the van, which now reeks of mold. The passenger power sliding door will not close properly on the first try. It keeps opening up right as it goes to close. Dealer claims fixed but still have to make 2 or 3 attempts before it will finally work. Door would not close at all 2 times in the last week. Manual override did not release the door. After waiting 5 minutes and trying again, the door would finally shut. The A/C does not blow out cool air on very hot (over 80 degrees) days.

2004 Quest, when it is cold out the side doors wont open, have to pull on them hard and then maybe eventually they will open, or have to wait for the van to warm up on the inside for doors to be able to open. Not a convenient problem when children need to be take to school early in the morning. Taken to dealership, and technician advised me it was a common problem and "deal" with it.

The driver's side sliding door, not powered, will open up when accelerating or going around a curve. The door will not close when the temp is below 32 degrees. Obviously this is dangerous when my 6 month old infant is in the car when the door opens up. The Nissan dealer was told about it 4 times and today, again, it was not even looked at. Does my infant have to fall out of the car before this problem will be taken seriously" how do I get this fixed" the recall was on the power door and not on the other one. There is a problem on both types of doors and this is not acknowledged.

I own a 2004 Nissan Quest SE. There seems to be a serious defect with the safety features on the power sliding doors. While out one afternoon, my son decided that he would press the button to close the power sliding door on his side. I had bent down to tie his shoe and failed to notice that he didn't move his hand out of the way after he had pressed the button to close the door. Unfortunately, the power sliding door completely closed on my 3-year-old son's hand. Thankfully, he was not seriously injured (broken bones, etc). However, I feel as if this is a serious problem that Nissan needs to address soon. Also, there have also been a few times where the doors have been closing, and, for whatever reason, my husband or I have tried to stop them. We literally have to put all of our strength into stopping the moving doors, and even then, sometimes they continue to close without hesitation. The powered back hatch/door on the van is very sensitive to anything being in the way; I don't understand why the power sliding doors aren't just as sensitive. I desperately hope Nissan will correct this major problem before someone becomes seriously injured.

My Nissan Quest has been plagued with electrical problems from day one. The windows go down completely on their own with vehicle turned off. The passenger sliding door opens randomly on its own. The tire alarm goes off when tire pressure is fine. Air vents fly off and lights fall out of the ceiling. Most troubling is the automatic side sliding door. Owner's manual stated on page 3-8 the door will reverse direction immediately during power open or close, a warning chime will sound and the door will reverse direction and return to the full open or full close position. The door does not operate this way, the door will not stop when it encounters an object it will continue to push the object in its way. My husband and I have both been caught by the door. It has knocked small children to the ground. I have complained to Nissan, and they insisted that this was the way the door were supposed to operate. The automatic close button is right at the level a small child would put his hand to enter the vehicle and could be easily activated. Nissan says the door is designed to reverse within the last couple inches even though this is contradictory to its manual. Please help before a child is seriously injured.

Car was brought in for a recall of the airbag sensor and the automatic sliding side door. Airbag sensor is still not functioning properly after 4 attempts at fixing it. Side door not properly functioning but service department can't 'duplicate' it so they say it's fine. Car is still in the shop, will be for a total (for this trip) of almost 4 weeks, until a rep from Nissan comes to try and fix it. Electrical system is a mess, lights, windows, power seats, doors, seem to act on their own. Nissan refuses to believe me! driver side passenger (non-power) door sticks, can barely open it myself. Flat tire light comes on when temperature outside dips. Beware of airbag sensor, try to check it yourself using different weight people. Very dangerous!

Van right auto sliding door flew open on my 3 children going 50mph 11 yr. Old son had to hold door closed with his body and feet until safely stop. Door going back and forth, would not stay closed, would not stay opened!!! dealership had to unhook battery to get the door to disengage! said probably minor problem. Contacted sales dept - problems from 1st week with van. No contact for several days, contacted them. Would be a week or two to replace part. No call again. Called them 4th week. Serv. Dept. Said new bulletin (not a recall) did not have replace. Part. When picked up in summer began to have major rattling in side doors, rear door, 2nd & 3rd row seats. Took back to dealership, did some adjustments needs body shop work, to set up apointment. No call. Door came open again with my children +2 onboard while driving. One week in shop, many things replaced including hinges and latches on doors and seats. Got home, auto door still broken. Back again. Some more adjustments. Current problems same, no solutions. All documented invoices. Poor response from Nissan consumer regional manager. Rude! no apology for safety concerning my family. Put burden on me for proof of malfunctions!

I purchased my 2004 Nissan Quest in September 2003. The day I drove the vehicle off the lot the sliding doors began to rattle and haven't stopped since. I have taken the vehicle to two different dealers for a total of nine times. The dash reflects in the windshield making it a hazard to drive, the driver's door has a squeak when opening that is caused by the hinge flexing where it is attached to the body. Have been told by dealer this cannot be fixed. The sliding door panel on the driver's side rear, protrudes about 1/8" from the body and has a dent in the corner of the panel and have been told by dealer this cannot be fixed. I paid over $31K for this car and it seemingly cannot be fixed no matter what is wrong. I have contacted Nissan 5 times by telephone and on one ever returns my calls.

1- normaly exiting the car my 3.5 yr old son got his right foot crushed by the right passenger automatic sliding door which started closing by itself. 2-even after recall has been performed for the sliding doors not locking this door seems to have a mind of its own and it is not acceptable nor safe that we can't exit the vehicle without fear of injury!!! specially for both of my young sons. - at his moment the car has been reported 2 times to the car dealer and the fix has been the additional lubrication of the door and cleaning of the contacts. In addition to the recall repairs to the locking mechanism which has never been and issue. Last, my wife was also a victim of this fault with a nasty bruise to her forearm. I truly beleive that immediate action is required from Nissan, to backup the advertised label for the vehicle of mommy car hence young children are comming in and out the car, using this doors since as responsible parents we have assing the back row seat as the safest place.
