While driving on the interstate with 2 infants in cars seats as well as 3 other adults the vehicle lost power. It would not accelerate. Within minutes the steering was stiff and was extremely difficult to turn. Pulled off the interstate and onto a side road. The vehicle finallt decellerated to a full stop. Turned it off and restarted a few moments later. Vehicle ran again but no steering. Popped the hood and looked and no power steering fluid in the well. Added fluid and steered ok till 4 blocks from my house at which time the steering acting up again and not accelerating no matter how far you push the pedal. Turned it off and restarted again. Steering not working but accelerated enough to park it at home. Took to my mechanic but says he cannot look at it until Wednesday. Was so scared cause had the grandbabies in the van.

Attempting to get on the interstate. Accelerated, but RPM's went up to 5 or 6 but the speed did not increase. Husband tried to manually shift, but vehicle would not go into overdrive. We pulled off the road, turned vehicle off and restarted. Vehicle reacted correctly to accelerating with just a little sluggishness. Transmission fluid was checked and it was fine. Unfortunately, day trip was cancelled and children were very disappointed, because we were afraid to be too far from home and not be able to get back.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest. While waiting at a stop light, the engine surged and the vehicle was forced out into a four-way intersection. After a few seconds, the engine went back to idling normally. On February 9, 2015, while waiting at a restaurant drive thru, the engine surged forward while the brakes were engaged and crashed into the preceding vehicle. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000. The consumer stated on three occasions, the engine revved, and lunged forward as he was braking, causing him to loose control of the vehicle which resulted in him hitting a handicap parking sign. The consumer stated in each case, his foot was on the brake, the surge came without warning, the engine choked, but did not die, after the initial surge, the engine returned to back to normal, he was unable to stop the vehicle from accelerating, and the engine was at normal operating temperature. Updated 03/02/16.

Had the vehicle since 2004 as the original owner. Vehicle has not been in an accident. Heard a loud clunk when driving after removing foot from brake and after going over bumps. Turned out the metal subframe of the vehicle has completely rusted out and separated from the frame of the vehicle. The steering crossarms and ball joint are loose because of this. It's a $4000 repair and car has only 120K miles. Had to get new car. Dealer said it's not safe to even drive and not worth fixing.

: the contact stated while driving various speeds, the engine stalled without warning. Afterwards, the engine would not restart, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. Initially, the dealer determined the battery needed to be replaced, but the problem persisted. The dealer later determined the throttle body needed to be replaced. After the replacement, the stalling continued, and the vehicle was taken to the dealer to await installation of a data recorder to record any type of failure within the vehicle. The manufacturer was alerted.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest. There have been several problems, such as unidentified noises that came from the rear of the vehicle. When applying brakes at red lights the car will respond by accelerating. When driving through turns or an intersection the car responded in third gear instead of first. The doors vibrated as if they will open by themselves. The vehicle has been to the dealer numerous times, which was most often deemed normal by the Nissan dealer. Also, the steering wheel made noises. This was discovered by Nissan after complaining three times, and a manufacturer's representative who duplicated the problem and found a broken plastic piece within the steering. This vehicle was under lemon law investigation. The dealer was unable to provide any explanations as to why these problems occurred. There have been multiple corrections, at least ten times. Recently there was a recall on the second row seats, but recall repairs could not be performed until December 2005.

Three days after purchasing my 2004 Nissan Quest the driver side window would not close, after 3 days at the dealer the problem was fixed only to happen a few months later. Today while driving 70 mph my van lost power causing me to pull to the side of a busy interstate. When I pressed the gas pedal the RPM's would go up, but there was no power. The van would not go over 20 mph. I contacted the dealer and was given a rental car. I have to wait until Monday morning for the service depatment to open. My van only has 26,000 miles on it.
