problem #1

Dec 312015

Quest S 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 116,000 miles

timing chain makes a loud rattling noise

The car started making a rattling sound and engine sounded bad. Took it to the dealership and they said the timing chain guide is worn out and it would be $1700 to fix it. Checked online and it seems that it is a common problem that occurs with the 3.5L V6 engine and there is even a lawsuit against Nissan for this.

Dealer says I have to get it fixed or the chain might jump causing engine damage
